Cool.
If its worth anything as a measure of how good the PCM suite is, I had the Lexicon MPX100 and MPX-1 and I think Space Designer sounds better and in turn the Lexicon PCM Suite sounds better than Space Designer. Never the less, brilliant sounding reverbs all over the place for me to use.

The venue I used to work as a live sound technician in the UK has the PCM 80 and 91 units. Although I cannot say too much about how good they were as I was getting the natural reverb of the venue as well as the reverb from the P.A.

How much can you get the 80 nowdays?

i think around 500 euros and less for good deals, 450 maybe.. there is some great deals to make with the old pcms when a good offer show up but do you think it worth it? for verbs i like flexibilty of plugins but for multi fx on synth it make me think..

the pcm80 seems a great multi fx, there is lot of paremeters for the fxs,it s possible to go deep into it a bit like on eventide , there is also the kurzweil ksp8 that dont cost much anymore or moogerfoogers (i was listning the phazer it sounded great !)..
wonder what the best choice one can probably can t go wrong with any of these..

there is also all the old cheap multifxs that were used in the 90 and now cost nothing , some have really great fx like ensoniq used by daftpunk and many other.. these thing can be found for price of a plugin and probably have their own sound and color

i was lisetning some ensoniq dp4 demos and it really have the old school techno sound! was back in the middle 90 instanely, it was probably a classic piece of kit! i think i m gonna buy one or a dp pro and resell it if it dont worht it

reverb is suposed not the be the strengh of this multifx but everything else is supposed to sound really good

this is probably dp4 too, semes like that box were abused back in the days and some of the fxs became classic, it s supposed to have a warm sound ,that can be dirty a little but nothing transparent

i checked more on the dp4 , it have the french touch phazer lot of french house /techno artists used in the middle 90(for some producers it s still the best phazer ever)

chorus delay phazer flangers are supposed to sound beautiful reverb too but not as great
as lexicon hardware from that time..

ksp8 and pcm 80 are great too ,there is really great deals on all these units

i've got the lexicon mpx-1 and i haven't really been using it anymore. space designer and all the other logic plug-ins sound better. i guess it's no use really to buy a (vintage) hardware multi fx anymore unless it has "that special character" your looking for. i've been on the look out for a vintage bucket brigade delay but no luck so far...           "no one ever sweats on a plug-in" -moby

the dp4 have a sound but i afraid i like more logic fxs hehe...when i get a bit of money to spend i will look for good deals just to check, all these units ksp8 , pcm 80 with dual card and dp4 are big classic there is no money to loose by reselling anyway but i hope to not be disapointed !

(the price of the ksp8 was crazy when it came out ,it was a dream to get unit like this or like the pcms..now i can releaze it at a low price so it s a other reason to get one even if i play with the unit for just one month and resell )

i want one for a other reason too, to go really deep inside will teach way more how use complex fxs chains cause of the workflow..cause right now i just put some fx on synths just to make the sound better and dont really exploit fxs like it s possible...with a good multi fx and his workflow i will probably learn a lot of new things and cool tricks that may possible to recreate with plugs but i would have never though about it wihtout using the hardware box..

Anyone have experience with the DSI Tetra synth?
Just got a monophonic Slim Phatty, but now I release I could have also had a 4 voice analog synth for the same price

Its a toss up between getting the Minitaur next, of the Tetr4. I am also considering the very badly named Mopho X4 which is basically the keyboard version of the Tetr4 with knobs.

Ah right...not that it matter to me much as I am not a performer synth guy, just need one part at a time to record. But it has sub oscillators like the tetra I trust? Cause the P08 does not and you have to program both layers to get the sub oscillator sound.

i take it your familiar with the cem chip sound as well, not everyones cup o tea

having recently lost a sequenetial circuits six track this thing looks like it might be the perfect replacement

will have too wait and see what people say bout this

from the sample i heard i don t like the dsi stuff, might cost a bit more but a small modular with a tiptop audio happy ending kit would piss on the dsi stuff soundwise to me..or mfb synths like dominion or kraftzwerg
