It is kind of funny but as I being a dj looked for a term definning my style (hard, fast, melodic tunes) came up with 'hard goa'. I did that because goa to me meant melody but nowadays again in my opinion its vibe is mostly present in harder stuff.

I think that a lot of people *want* this still of music we speak of to be the new Goa because they crave the Goa spirit, but really it's totally different. I mean c'mon, you can't play any of this dark shit alongside old Goa & compare ANYTHING except the fact that they're both in 4/4  I think you should give up trying to lay claim to being the "new" version of something so special.. it's a bit egotistical

well I've been in Goa this whole season (amongst many) and the music here - its not really that dark. sure many times at night people play more like that.... but if 'dark music was the new Goa' then people would be playing more of here even during the day.... and people arent playing that dark during the day.... and also most of the party scene seems to happen during the day times of a party...
this darker music that is happening usually happens in trance scenes in cities, or in countries with less of an outdoor scene.
a few people mentioned in this post, that cutting edge psytrance does not come from Goa anymore etc....
Well no trance comes from Goa at all anyway... whatever trance thats made around the world can come to Goa..., I agree that sometimes not the best of it is played here, but there are DJs from all over the world playing here, everyday. (there is one place that has music everyday of the season for 5 hours) and a lot lot lot of good music comes out... and I'm not speaking from only my own opinion... but people from all over are always happy at some point with the music... with such a wide range of psy people to satisfy, thats not too bad... and in general here the dancefloor is more up when the music is not too dark.
