Goa Gil is not only an internationally known musician and a DJ, but also a person with a very deep spiritual background as a hindu sadhu. For him the party is sacred . He calls his party concept "Redefining the ancient tribal ritual for the 21st Century".

In the video Goa Gil expresses his opinion about the shamanic aspect ot the trance parties and explores the spiritual trance dance initiation . He explains his approach about the dark side of psychedelic trance and his visions and hopes for the future of humanity.

Goa gil is the godfather of trance...ok, give him that...he must be a legend of sorts etc....n people around the world worship him etc...

But just one thing...Sadhus, are scary people buddy...dirty, anti social, n often extremists...

Id much rather prefer listening to what Osho has to say, than sadhus from kumbh mela..

As for mixing skills from a legend, there are so many good old men out there , but who chose to remain underground..

One such man comes to my mind...Boyan...

Hardcore.

Well, yes, sadhus may be scary. But that is because they protect agressively the sacred. They are " soldiers". Btw here is a story about a festival in India, Kumbha Mela, where thousands of sadhus and millions of piligrimes gather. Some impressions that i had there while we visited Mangalanand Giri aka Goa Gil.

As far as Goa Gil is concerned: well if you have an hour to watch the video we made with him, you would probably understand much more about his " mission"....). There are many good men out there, but only a few have become " messangers" who bring the wisdom into the ordinary modern society.

Nice video, thanks. I found it very interesting.

I like what he says about the 60's movement happening very innocently and how a similar thing happened in the Goa years. And then later when it's gone you realize how magical it was.

But the beat continues...

A dude that gets 1000 $ for a set is a sadhu & godfather of goa?
He is just making a living thats all, no mythical shit about it.
And if u drop acid as he does his mind will never be clean and in the state that sadhu mind should be.

1000$ for 24 hour set seems like no so much money to me

about sadhus head being clear... mmmmh... charras isnt exactly a "head-clearer" IMO

Of course it is a head clearer, what else;).If used properly , it is exactly a head clearer, otherwise it would not be used by the religios men in India for so many centuries...

About the 1000 Dollar, well, come on, guys, we have had this kind of discussion so many times through the years in so many forums....And always the same argument. Are you going to start a discussion about " Goa Gil is commercial" again;)?

may be you could just first have a look at this video and then base the discussion on it? Of course you can do and write whatever you want, anyway, just wanted to say that i would appreciate it if you first watch what he has to say about these things. . Also another issue has been raised in the interview: why he always wants to play alone. I think this is the other argument that has been used in the discussions against him through the years but in the interview he explains everything about the reasons for that.

Aluxe and kazaku: thank you very much for watching / reading . I am very happy that you liked it . Thanks a lot;)

More to come from the Kumbha Mela festival soon.

If he is a horrible dj , is only a matter of perspective. For you he maybe a horrible dj, for others not, it is subjective. The only thing that can be objectively claimed in this case, is that his concept is truly unique. I do not know any other trance dj who is a sadhu among the Naga Babas. If you do, please inform me so that i can get out of my ignorance;))).

About the money: i think that this whole discussion has always been ridiculous. Is it too much for you? Imho not, because, if you have a job too, and you are professionally educated to do that, and if you put your salary and the salary of your wife or husband together ( he plays with Arianne), you will also come to 1000 Dollar per week, wouldn't you? I mean, come on, this is not that much for a highly professional work. And everybody has to have some income in order to survive, if he is professional , he deserves that and i do not see it as bad thing. The other thing would be to leave all the material world behind, completely, but it is not the case, because he is stil engaged with the "modern" society. And actually I see it as his mission to be engaged there too, and to be a sadhu and a dj at the same time, to be in both worlds and be a worldbridger between the realities.

Some other live acts take even 10000 per night. So what is the point, i do not get this whole discussion. Some years ago I started to put my ears offline, if I hear that somebody is starting to repeat the same and the same arguments about Goa Gil. It is ridiculous. And even if it is a lot of money , maybe this is just his way to say that he does not like to play at every festival. If he took 200 or something like that, he would get 20 invitations every day and always has to refuse ( see what he says about festivals in the interview).

And what is wrong with being in love with hisself. Aren't you? If not, then I guess, it might get really cold in your heart now and then...Love has to begin inside, because if you do not love your innerself and inner realms , then you will not be able to love anyone else. The whole universe is inside of you anyway
