On a personal level I feel: this pop-psy spirituality shit is all bull.           "It's not the fall that kills you; it's the sudden stop at the end." - Douglas Adams

Hey Tina .
Great video u got here n its just super the flow of it the way its edited n stuff

some real insights into the sadhu world , spirituality in the air for sure with the millions of pilgrims at the KUMBH MELA..which is 1 of the most important days in the HINDu calender

Kumbh Mela (the Pitcher Festival) is a Hindu pilgrimage that occurs four times every twelve years and rotates among four locations: Allahabad, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik.
Each twelve-year cycle includes one Maha Kumbh Mela (Great Kumbh Mela) at Prayag, which is attended by millions of people, making it the >>>>>.largest gathering anywhere in the world<<<<<<...(largest gathering ) now that says something

and dear 1 more thing i would like to add that is u must not try to explain the true facts to certain ppl coz they fail to understand over n over again , so no point ..every 1has there own ideology ; ) ..life

Rituals of Kumbh Mela

The Triveni Sangam, or the intersection of Yamuna River and Ganges River, where devotees perform rituals.Kumbh Mela is attended by millions of people on a single day. The major event of this festival is a ritual bath at the banks of the rivers in each town. Other activities include religious discussions, devotional singing, mass feeding of holy men and women and the poor, and religious assemblies where doctrines are debated and standardized. Kumbh Mela (especially the Maha Kumbh Mela) is the most sacred of all the Hindu pilgrimages. Thousands of holy men and women (monks, saints and sadhus) attend, and the auspiciousness of the festival is in part attributable to this

also Kumbha Mela is known as
The world's most massive act of faith

Kumbha Mela has gained international fame as "the world's most massive act of faith." Pilgrims come to this holy event with such tremendous faith and in such overwhelming numbers that it boggles the mind. Faith is the most important thing for the pilgrims at Kumbha Mela, they have an "unflinching trust in something sublime".

To understand the significance of the Kumbha Mela and the important role that it plays in the spirituality of India, it is helpful to know something about the background of the sacred Ganges River. The devout believe that simply by bathing in the Ganges one is freed from their past sins (karma), and thus one becomes eligible for liberation from the cycle of birth and death. Of course it is said that a pure lifestyle is also required after taking bath, otherwise one will again be burdened by karmic reactions .The pilgrims come from all walks of life, traveling long distances and tolerating many physical discomforts, such as sleeping in the open air in near freezing weather. They undergo these difficulties just to receive the benefit of taking a bath in the sacred river at Kumbha Mela.

The main highlight for most pilgrims during a Kumbha Mela is the observance of a sacred bath at the sangam. It is said that a bath in either of the sacred rivers has purifying effects, but where the three rivers meet, the bather's purification is increased one hundred times. Furthermore, it is said that when one takes a bath at the sangam during the Kumbha Mela, the influence is one thousand times increased.

According to astrological calculations, the Kumbha Mela is held every twelve years and begins on Makar Sankranti, the day when the sun and moon enter Capricorn and Jupiter enters Aries. The astrological configuration on Makar Sankranti is called " Kumbha snana-yoga" and is considered to be especially auspicious, as it is said that the passage from Earth to the higher planets is open at that time, thus allowing the soul to easily attain the celestial world. For such reasons it is understandable why the Kumbha Mela has become so popular among all classes of transcendentalists in India

Id much rather prefer listening to what Osho has to say, than sadhus from kumbh mela..

He has a squeaky clean image for sure but if you look through the curtain of propaganda you may be surprised by what you find. I am not so sure if he is any less of a cheater that the sadhus you speak of.

anyway going to look at the sadhus in india today and critisising them is like going to an american Indian reservation and saying how all they do is drink and run casino's things are not always so clear as they seem and the British and Muslim's have done a lot of hard work killing sadhu's in India the mess we see now cannot be used to write off the whole system

As far as Chillums and Charas goes:

"Lord Siva
drank poison to the extent of swallowing an ocean, but if any common man
tries to drink even a fragment of such poison, he will be killed. There are many
pseudo devotees of Lord Siva who want to indulge in smoking ganja
(marijuana) and similar intoxicating drugs, forgetting that by so imitating the
acts of Lord Siva they are calling death very near. Similarly, there are some
pseudo devotees of Lord Krishna who prefer to imitate the Lord in His rasa-leela,
or dance of love, forgetting their inability to lift Govardhana Hill. It is best,
therefore, that one not try to imitate the powerful, but simply follow their instructions; nor should one try to occupy their posts without qualification."

I think one should be carefull too look for the real sadu's and not just follow blindly.

All glories to the real sadhu's

psychedelia/dE.Tonatik, thank you very much! Glad to hear that you like it.
You posted some very interesting exerpts about the Kumbha mela. Actually I am working on another video which is based on this story http://www.psy-film.com/spirit/kumbh/nectar_of_immortality.htm
it is a video essay about what I have seen there.

And I would like to use this plattform to ask if somebody would like to contribute an ambient track vor this video. Please contact me if so.

Btw no matter if Goa Gil or Osho ot whoever: I think it has to do with the fear that most of us have towards people with magic powers. There has never been a clean image of people who deal with the supernatural. You can start with Jesus and go through the witches in the Dark Ages and the Shamans in South Amerika or the sadhus in India. There has always been fear that the ordinary society directed to those issues, because they did not understand that.

Yab Yum....love your music...super stuff...

Whats wrong with wearing diamond studded watches? designer goggles?? having a Rolls Royce???

He advocated free spirit. If he enjoyed sex, luxury cars, the good life, it was his choice, his call. Who are we to judge him?

I like what he has to say. His personal life is his life, it is no concern of mine.

Spiritual journey is not just about abstinence from material pleasures. Instead, I believe you sould grab as much when you are at it, but do it ethically, with the right concious...

Meanwhile, the sadhus shower curses, commit crimes in the name of religion and claim to be soldiers of God. Who God? Which God?

Open ur consciousness to the possibilites out there that can lead you to the source...

so what?? of course there are fake sadhus. and so what? it does not demolish the whole magic behind the sadhus. and even if such news is spreading around, it will not make me believe that the miracles performed by sadhus do not exist. sure they exist. i have seen them with my own eyes so this is the truth i chose to believe in...you don't have to believe in those miracles if you do not want;)

Well, i think it is ridiculous to say that there is nothing special about him. At least if you had some further knowledge of what does it mean to have done the whole sadhu thing and how difficult it is to survive that. Anyway you are free to speak whatever you want, we live in a free world , but i hope you are not going to repeat five times once again that only the idiots believe in what he did for this culture as a whole ))).

Anyway, STILL LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO CONTRIBUTE A TRACK FOR THE SOUNDTRACK !

Noobs/Uninitiated? Are you fucking retarded or what, this is a party/music scene not a fucking ascension to the heavens.
I "know" this scene and I "know" he is a very good DJ (his technical skills have improved immensely lately, and for me, mixing is of secondary importance) but another important knowledge that I share with the wise is the fact that music is a subjective experience.
He doesn't over-charge... 1000 for 16-24 hour set is dirt-cheap. He doesn't share the stage because thats the way he wants to do his thing, and since he has the support and demand to do it, and in turn he makes people happy, more power to him.
Just STFU and let these people talk about how holy they think Goa Gil is.

We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love... and then we return home.
