There are a lot of trance DJs that can't mix to save their lives. Its very annoying, you'd think that someone who gets a slot in a festival/party, would repsect the people and his own self enough, to learn something as simple as mixing two records/CDs together.
Check the DJing section, there's people that can't sort out a mix using Traktor for fucks sake...useless...

Well, the DJ’ing section here is mostly for bedroom DJ’s. Visit any DJ-forum for electronic music, and you can find mixes from people who have just started out. I wouldn’t like listening to my old sets again either, hehe

While I do agree that there are some trance-DJ’s out there on the big lineups, who would certainly benefit from some more practice of just basic EQ and beatmatching skills, I don’t think the standard concerning the basic skills is THAT much lower than for instance the techno and house scene. The standard in the psytrance-scene wasn’t very high some years ago, but it has certainly gotten better over the years.

And speaking of house and techno... I’ve also heard some really well-known techno and house DJ’s (we’re talking DJMag Top100 people here) make trainwreck after trainwreck at parties over the years. Also, I’ve also heard some really bad mixes recorded at top clubs like Bar25 and Watergate over the summer.

As for the earlier comment about Emok; I find it hard to believe it was him playing – I’ve heard him play at many occasions, and he’s definitely among the better DJ’s out there and certainly not just doing fademixes all through his sets.
