And, what's so bad about those covers? I don't see anything shocking. Ever read comic books, or see fantasy art, or play video games, or watch movies, or read books? Or watch tv? Or walk down the street? That kind of thing is everywhere. Why is it only bad when it has to do with trance?
Comparing melodic, 130-146 bpm trance with high speed "dark" (pure psychedelic) trance is like comparing Classical with Powernoise. Why even try to compare?
And, if its so bad you never want to hear it at a party, well, why don't you throw your own parties?
This scene is very heavy on people who 'know' what SHOULD be done, but very light on anyone actually DOING anything.

 yes obviously there is a "psytrance commitee" and you have to fit the profile.... First you must only listen to music between 130-146bpm (how funny is that?  ) second you must only promote what YOU consider to be "psychedelic" and lastly you must be a cynic, griper and complainer to be on this hallowed, divine psytrance commitee....
now that the guidelines and boundaries have been set, we can all move on now.

I don't doubt who you spoke with. I would just like to know and i am sure there are others as well that are interested in knowing who are the "pretenders" since you know who?

Btw, it is not that i defend the "HELL IN PSYTRANCE" concept.
I am defending the right to freedom of speech and creativity.
You say "why tolerate intolerance?" Now isn't that the pot calling the kettle black? It seems as if you are being intolerable in regards to this subject.

Mhhh, i think it always depends.
For example my tracks that have evil names are mostly ironic and funny stuff. Nothing that anyone should take serious. If i use lyrics like 'I like to eat human flesh, i like to eat u and ur family' or something like this i really don't want to say that i accept any kind of cannibalism. I am a pacifist and vegeterian, i love the light!
But i also like horror movies and darkish psytrance, it hasn't to be dark at all, but i also like funny names which contains this hell stuff. And for sure we all must accept the shit thats going on in life even when we are tripping. Don't close ur eyes! In the world there really is a lot of bad shit going on and also in my head, so i just try to get it out of my mind

Almost every existing mainstream art form has been watered down. What I appreciate in psytrance is that we can have a full spectrum of experience, mirroring a huge variety of emotions and states of conciousness. Things people all around the world are experiencing everyday.
Has anyones sister been cannibalised because of "darkpsy"? I hope not.
I dont know what the problem is except for the need for people to "whine". Some cheese with that anyone?
Bon Jovi fans will most propably not go to a Samael concert just becuse both bands use guitars. If You read the fliers propably and inform yourself you will never get "tormented".
Read a review or pre-listen, you will never get exposed to all these terrible, hellish things.
Instead of whining on the forum every 2.3 seconds about what is referd to as darkpsy, why not use the time to fight the REAL evil which surrounds us everyday?
I think country music and gangster rap suck, I dont buy them, I dont watch MTV, I will propably never go to a concert. Its not like this is being forced upon anybody 
If you had a "darkpsy" track with no "hellish" samples, but a scary name, does the track become evil?
If you call someone a donkey do they suddenly turn grey, grow big ears and a tail?
Do you really think experiencing "internal" horror leads to external evil?
In the Phillipines people whip themselves and each other at certain times of the year (for religious reasons, self flagillation) but they do it out of non-evil intentions.
Some people go and get whipped with a dildo in the anus because they like s and m...then they go home and are loving fathers and donate money to charity or adopt an orphan or whatever..
As long as you dont harm anybody, whatever floats your boat is ai´íght imo.

Its lalmost like some people are intolerant like those nerds on tv who say "censor horror films", censor "counterstrike, mortal combat" or wahtever other games.
AS if those are the cause of real evil-----that has very different and deeper roots, than what is being discussed, this is just reflecting on what the mind experiences.
Ocelot^^ I think I know what you are trying to say....you are subconsciously trying to express that your sound is the only one ( apart from some buddies maybe")^^ That strikes the perfect balance between non-evil and non-cheesy...no worries mate..you are in perfect equilibrium I like your sound but I dont think Blisargon or Baphomet Engine or whoever are more evil than you with worse intentions

cammon, you MAKE a track first, and then give it a name that fits it. and sure if you make a track about a donkey, it would sound like a donkey.

Sure everyone is entitled to their opinion, whatever.
But the question still remains, why the hell do we need to mix death metal with psy trance?
I agree with Kazuku's post about how you can approach darkness to find a deeper psychedelic meaning to it. But like Ocelot pointed out, this is not the case with most death trance artists. Unfortunately the mindset they have seems to be in general much more superficial and without that real psychedelic aspect to it. Which I think is why so many people are reacting like WTF with this shit in our scene.
It's like when our scene gets infected by mainstream pop comercial vibes. Of course then the bitching is going to start, because that is not what the psy scene is about and there is a place for all that comercial pop stuff however it does not belong in the psychedelic scene.
So that theory about being tolerant and accepting about everything has the potential to get our scene stuck supporting mindsets that are very far from the essence of the psychedelic vibe.
Maybe we should just label all that dark music which focuses on torture, horror, evil, or whatever as Death Trance and have it be a separate category all together.
I think its good that there are spaces for the different scenes so that everyone can be happy around people with the same mindset.
The problem comes when you want very contradicting mindsets coexisting under the same supposedly psy scene. Hey we might as well make parties with Puff Daddy, New Kids on the Block, etc and call it psychedelic as well right? yeah all in the name of tolerance and respect for our beloved psy scene.
It just gets ridiculous doesn't it? |
