Ones i went to a nature party .. There was a very big and genetic american amstaf next the gates , He was belong to the manager of the security guys . This dog was jump all over (in his place - with a heavy roop on) and look very crazy and danger . I ask the ppls over there why the dog are look so angry and with alot so energy ? (I think that if he was free he was hunting like 20 peoples in a min') They tald me that this is a drugs dog then i start understanding way the dog are so hot to do his joob . I ask if i can go to the dog and make him come down a littel and 2 gard tald me "Be ware .. No way !! You can't !!! Only his master can and only with a stick or somthing in his hand" . That dog was realy scary with a teror look in his eyes . I find my self asking me what can i do .. ? I lookt to see if no one look at me and on the doog at the same time and being a 3 side that can make the dog by looking him to atack me and i went ther and hug the dog without eny fear , I was new that if i will show him or even think or swet he will know it in a sec' , and then i hug the dog for almost 5 min' his master come (and i think that he know his dog so he didt want to do somthing that make the dog to atacking me and to wake up from his own dream of this 5 min' (Im sure that he was backt at time in his feeling to the time that he was puppy - I tuch him like i tuch myns) So his master stay in the side and some more ppl's was lookt and couldnt belived by seeing this ! Slowly slowly i go back (step by step .. i didt look in his eyes at all - If i was it was my end i gess) and all is back again to the normal reality , the master took his stick and take the doog to his car because he was understanding that he wrong by leting the dog be so mad when ppls are smoking at the party in to this dog mind erea . I was realy happy to know that the power of mother land and nature was giving me this source to do that crazy thing and i went to thank her on the dancefloor .

It's so interesting this thread is rather old and since 2 and a half years ago things have changed and I have a dog for couple of years now. My personal opinion about dogs at parties didn't change much but became much more fixed:

Naya ( my dog ) doesnt like parties / crowded and loud events too much. I think that rule number one is to know your pet... and what it likes really... When I go out to play or to party, it always in my mind if to take her or not, but then I ask myself the following question... If I take her is it to make her happy or to make myself happy ( obviously it is not an easy question since the dog will always be happy to come with its owner, but that is why we humans need to know the difference... ) If the objective answer is to make me happy, then I better leave her in the backyard of my house with supply of water and she will have a great time. There are dogs, though, that enjoy being in parties and they have a good time there, but more than once I met a very sad dog owner that his animal was fed with chemicals by some idiot etc...

After being at alot of parties and being myself a dog owner for 2 years now, I can say that bringing dogs to a party is looking good from the side as long as the dog has a good time, but only for the chance that some shit will happen I would leave it home and take it to the sea instead the morning after. For sure at the sea there wont be some idiot to feed it with acid and no loud agressive music that is cool for humans but not that cool for animals.

As a mother I truly believe it's about balance.

On the one hand, I can't stand it when people criticise parents for being with their children while continuing to live the life that makes them happy. We're still human beings like everyone else. "No trancey dancing for you, oh irresponsible parent you. Go home and make dinner." I mean come on!! What happened to tolerance and the concept of inclusion? I'd wager that most of the people who have ventured opinions so far against little people attending parties are not parents themselves and therefore have no idea what it is like to weigh up the responsibility you have to a child with the basic human right we all have to remain an individual. It strikes me as the height of hypocrisy for a scene that prides itself on values of peace, love, unity and respect to exclude somebody because of their parental status. I’m no different to any of you just because I am a mother.

Not to put too fine a point on it but children are mini adults and the future of our world. It does them good to experience different environments, cultures, music, people…it broadens their minds, allows them an opportunity to think for themselves and keeps them open to trying new things in just the same way it is good for an adult.

That's not to say that I don't put my children's needs first, which is why I talk about balance. Most of it boils down to common sense. I don't see a problem taking my two to a psy event, but I certainly wouldn't park them next to a house-sized monitor and risk impairing their hearing. I have no problem keeping them up into the small hours (not on a school night ) but if either one of them became too tired or stopped enjoying themselves then you can be sure I'd remove them and carry on another time. It's highly unlikely I would ever take them to a club event because as somebody said in an earlier post, there are some things that are strictly for adults and I am happy to respect that for the sake of my children. Even in an outdoor environment, I wouldn't allow them run freely among huge crowds of drugged up hippies because of the dangers a situation like that could present.

What you have to remember is that the vast majority of parents love their offspring more than anything else in the world and wouldn’t dream on endangering them, so you can be sure that those same parents attending a festival or party will have already considered any risks and accepted that there will be certain limitations on their own behaviour as a result to ensure their child’s safety. In doing so however, you open yourself up to experiencing a new kind of fun yourself.

On the subject of drugs, I am happy to have a few smokes in the company of my children because I don’t see any difference between that and having a few beers or sharing a bottle of wine with a friend on a special occasion. However even if I were a consumer of stronger intoxicants (which I’m not), I would probably restrict myself any time my children were present because I know they impair my ability to make sensible decisions.

Like many of you, I would have no respect for anyone who would put a child – especially their own – at risk, but frankly I have never seen a child at a festival/party who hasn’t been properly monitored and cared for by a responsible big person. I personally love seeing little people at parties. I find them quite enchanting and I personally believe we have much to learn from them. To watch a child dance, or swing poi, or drum for example is a pleasure I would not want to have missed in my time as a mother.

As for dogs, can’t comment. Don’t have one.
Anyway that’s my (rather long, drawn-out) opinion.

i also like to see from babies to old persons in a party..
about the babies u always can give him some kind of hear tampons. they can listen same way but it protects anyway.

About the dogs.. cheating everywhere, getting crasy with the sound.. smell.. people... i dont feel they like it very much.. and about dog fights in a party is even worse.. but ok. i never took mine to a party.. but who ever it does they should think about it and the rest is up to them..

A baby dressed as a goth...the horror of it! That kind of wanton behaviour will surely scar the child for life. Oooh Mr. Alpha, I think you just convinced me! I'm now going to go sneak into my daughters room and steal her glitter wings and uv hair bands so I can't dress her up like a fairy any more. Far be it from me to inflict such torture on my own child eh?!!

I really do agree with you floatyhippypower. I myself do not have children, but I haven't run into any situations where children who attended the event were placed into a situation where they were endangered. The experience one can have at an event (without even discussing substances) can really expand your thought process about life. I have been to a great number of events sober that have completely changed my opinions on life and other people. I've learned about other cultures, points of views, and all types of stuff that I wouldn't have learned about if I had stayed in my sheltered environment and watched tv... There are times where I wish I could have been exposed to this at an early age. I would hope that this music culture is more than just hedonism and that it can produce a deeper meaning inside people. Personally this music and the people have changed my life for the better and that is an experience that should be shared. It's more than just partying for me...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Me too.
I don't get to very many events so when I do go, it's more than just about getting wasted or seeing the latest hot shot DJ spinning killaaghhghg tunes. I mean sometimes it is and I like to go prance around like a loony just like everyone else, but then I wouldn't take my kids along. Simple.

I came from a very strict, religious environment where children were told what to do/think/believe rather than being allowed to experience the world around them. I feel very strongly that my own kids should have that chance whenever it's appropriate.

For example, there was a small local festival last Saturday to celebrate the arts. My daughter came back having learned to juggle two balls after making friends with some of the hippies who had beanies, batons, staffs etc with them. She talked at length with one of the ladies who showed her what to do and has since spent all week practising. I mean, it's just a small thing, but it's part of the learning curve, part of her social development. And in a strange way, taking the kids along to some of the more child-friendly events has enabled me to meet people I might not have spoken to otherwise purely because I'm more shy in real life than perhaps my online ranting suggests

Big up the parents.
