The thread, http://forum.isratrance.com/book-reviews-and-or-advice/ , was a bout books but somehow ended up being a kind of playground for criticism on psy trance lovers(amateurs) and their music(psytrance). Hence I decided to start a new thread on the same subject.
So,
Is it true that all the psy trance producers are nothing but amateurs who are chasing the glamor of being called a genius in music production, and fooling themselves of the reality that all their attempts are futile?
Are they a bunch of myopic novices who cant look beyond their limited senses and fail to realize that days of psytrance are over?
Well, I personally would agree to this to some extent, but cant consider it a universal fact.

Despite what it seems, and my reputation for stirring (and trolling), my intention is to present a neutral observation and criticism.
auralserenity - the moderators will shut this thread down coz it doesnt have anything to do with production. At the same time theres really no point in going to the other forums. |

The music is not dead since we have fun in our sequencers.
And being an amateur is quite common since the most of the blue names does not earn sth from this ,so who cares?
It is an expansion on a mental path to many for sure.Its not about them it is about you.When you are limited than you live surrounded by a wire.Or an eternal follower of followers.

I expected your emotions to boil up as in the case of people like you, I must have touched and fondled the whole cavern of nerves when I mentioned the word psytrance. Hey bukboy, I am really amazed by this-- If you were making such good piece of music five year back and now you claim that you have grown out of it, so how come, for the sake of les miserables like 'vipal', you ever think of walking out of the scene? I mean, in your way, how you ever got enlightened in multiples to realize that beauty is not beauty anymore? Was it because of the monetary reasons? |

Freeflow, Let the emotions be flown freely, we can learn from 'vipal'. And friend, no one's being an asshole overhere. If you have reasons to be pissed, people will be surprised if you wont radiate fire.
My purpose is not to make a fight club, instead I really was interested to raise this issue of blindfolded approach to stardom that's been followed by majority. Freeflow, we both didnt like bukboy giving us lectures on the very existence of a genre, but, truth is that he had a point.
So now, everyone, can we talk sense?
Oh 'vipal', you can continue being the same. I want fun element to remain.

auralserenity - Its a maturity thing. What happened is that I realised that music is an evolved - arbitrarily created phenomenon that just gave us an advantage and helped us grow/expand/evolve on a species level, but that doesnt change the basic fact that our nature is "monkeys bouncing to tribal beats" and music manipulates our basic emotions. Once I understood how music works, and how it manipulates emotions, I became acutely aware of how predictable music is and I am, I also saw that I am just a puppet subjected to tricks that make me feel. I felt so powerless and limited in my nature.
I suppose I saw beauty as being internal to me and arbitrary.
In the end Music is just a type of manipulation, where the manipulator skillfully gets you to part with the proceeds of your work.
I dont really want to be an entertainer.
My horizons are wider now...
The thing that tortures me is that no matter how good an idea is, its just a configuration that is either advantageous or not. SO long as it works in the short or long term, then thats all the meaning and truth it needs to contain. It can be a lot of B.S. so long as it gives you advantage. |

Buk, we are almost on the same league here as I started out with psychedelic a decade ago and soon I stopped making psy and started indulging in something that simply match my persona and thrill me to the core. Ambient & chillout & even lounge sometimes, though it tends to get more ethnic in lounge, but there is something called space lounge, I prefer that. There is no hardcore boundary, I might suddenly, out of the blue, once in the months, raise the tempo to 146 BPM. But prefer to keep it as a rarity.
Anyways, now what style you prefer to design? |
