What I've been hearing lately from several djs now, when mixing full on, they are playing about 2 minutes from a track then mixing out of it. maybe using the last minute from one track as an intro to another.
fortunately the djs that I've heard do this are only playing cheesy full on and not anything deep and psychedelic.

the problem here is very deep.. lots os "dj´s" play on parties because they are friends from the org.. because they invite some people on that org to play oin their party too.. and about kuality? most of producers dont mix pretty well.. most of them dont have time to that.. some dont realy give a fuck..and another dont mix so bad but some tecnical issues that they just dont know.. so we have to think on one thing.. people that goes to party know what is a good mix? most of them dont.. if the beats are out.. i see people jumping with realy bad mixes.. and screaming like it was better... so if the crouwd dont have any clue.. do you think the artists or dj going to improve by their own... new people are improving alot.. but its hard to come up.. when you have so many lobbies around... and so many dinossaurs that have big names.. they receive money.. but they dont improve nothing...
so i think if other issues dont ruin the cenne... more kuality will come with the years... its just a question of time...

I heard Tsuyoshi play this weekend in Germany and first of all he didn't play skazi or any related ^

I think i´ve been at the same Party, and IIRC Tsuyoshi played Skazis Seek and destroy Remix.

with the amount of music that is made and released these days, many times dj (and myself included) mix trax they are not fammilliar with completely, just knowing that this or the other track is good and works on the floor.

This is one thing that non psy trance Djs take the piss out of psy trance DJs for - becuase there is such an obsession with the latest unreleased tunes many Djs dont know their tunes very well - but I'm sorry - if you're playing out - you should KNOW your tunes!!

With my mixing, which I've been practicing diligently for about six months now, I'm horribly pedantic about my beatmatching. It may have to do with the fact, as stated above, that I'm an ex-rocker/raver, with an attraction to drum and bass right alongside my psytrance. ::grin:: So even if my mix slips out just a bit, I'm berating myself over it.

I try to consider my perfectionist tendencies as a precursor for success. I sincerely hope that it turns out to be true.

i think theres no bad mixes at all ,its just different.why should we get bad vibes from music? this aint so goddamned serious.peace and love people, no need to point fingers at anyone theyre doing their thing which is
to have fun and dance. why to waste time making something bad in your mind? take it easy brothers and sisters. fr33 pal35tin3!

I dont agree with u psy-goa.
I think that good mixes is the basic thing for good vibes from music , and there is no connect between peace & love to good or bad mixes ! two diffrent things !

a bad mix can kill the 'trance' I'm in. If I'm in my own little world, dancing away, and suddenly start to hear a mashed up/clashy mix, or the music outright stop, it takes me out of the place I've managed to dance myself into, and kills the vibe.

That is when 100% sober, now, if I've taken something, I'm alot less likely to notice a bad mix (I still do, but just not as often/as much), and it wont kill it as much.

But, when I'm sober, a bad mix can take me out of the trance I'm in, which is sorta kills the point dont you think?

When I'm dancing, if the set is good, I can go nonstop for HOURS, been a few times where i've just closde my eyes and let myself go, open up my eyes a few hours later and its a shock to my system to see people around me, and that 3+ hours have gone by ... its hard to get like that when the DJ is doing a bad job mixing unless I'm high (and 9 times out of 10, I'd rather party sober)

I think the style is what matters most here. Fullon just doesn't mix that well. Progressive on the other hand mixes relatively easy.

I completely dissagree man. full on is realy easy cuz its ususlly close range bpm (140-145), usually the bass lines are 16ths and the kick sounds prety much similar - hi top end punchy bass drums - so the mix from one track to the next is easy.
with proggressive music u have a much bigger diversity in the sounds of kicks (from punchy to soft to real) and basses (any thing imaginable), a much wider range of bpm (132-142) and a very big diversity in styles (from housy to technoish with everything in between) so the mix is much harder but make for a much more interesting flow.

I completely agree GuyShanti, I find progressive is far more challenging to mix than full on music, for pretty much the exact reason's you've mentioned above. Also if you want to get even more technical re beat mixing, there's the whole Pioneer CDJ-100/500's issue where music that is under 140bpm or so doesn't sit exactly in matched tempo if the original tracks are different bpm, due to the their digital pitch shift with no less than "0.1" adjustments (you still can, and do adjust on the fly of course). On the other hand, with full on music around 144bpm you can have the tracks sitting flawlessly together without touching it for a long while!

Also, if a Full on mix is train wrecked, the crowd usually forget about it pretty quickly due to the build up that's sure to come in the next few seconds anyway

many of the djs mentioned as bad mixers has through their work gained a title that better correspond to gurus than djs and therefore it's hard to judge what is good or bad cause they still have the same importance for the scene.

I think this is absolutely spot on. Personally I much prefer beatmixing, and never do anything but beatmix, but as Peter said, the DJ's mentioned on this thread are generally people who've been around for a long while and are the same people that we have all seen annhiliate dancefloors around the world with amazing levels of energy time after time... They must be doing something right hey?!

"matching tempo" appeared in psytrance when clubby djs came to psytrance;
before, nobody did give a fuck, D.A.T players and the point was to have a high time and thats all...
