What do you prefer???
People knowing and having your music for free???
Or:Not having it at all if they don´t pay for it???
Just wondering.

Music is an art which should be distributed for free.
Since today's "music" is not an art but bussiness it should be sold in large quantity in order to be heard.
I'm fundamentalist.

That's kind of a wierd question.
Who is going to pay the rent, electricity, food, etc.. for the artist?

I think that it depends. If I wrote music specifically because it is the way I will pay my rent, damn right people should pay for it. However, if I write music just for fun, and have another job that pays my rent and necessities, I think that people should be allowed to access my music.

But here's where I differ in the general opinion. If you ask me for music directly, I will more often than not send you a cd. But if you don't even bother to ask me for some and just get my stuff from some miscellaneous P2P site, then that's when I have an issue. I can understand if someone hasn't heard any of my stuff before and randomly runs across it, but I would hope that the individual would make an effort to contact me and let me know that they appreciate what I have done. For me the fact that someone has taken the effort to hunt me down and contact me to let me know they like my stuff is better than money.

There are artists that can make their living on gigs and releasing music. I say more power to them, personally that route really isn't what I want. The only reason why I began writing music was to share my personal perspective with others and be able to have my auditory visions connect with people that I have never met and might not ever meet.

Maybe I am just not one of those professionals, but does it make the music I do any less because I am not out there trying to sell it like that? I write music because it is something fun and I got tired of playing video games all the time. It's awesome that other people feel that this music is such that it should be exposed to the general public through compilations, and I applaud the labels that took a financial risk to make the opportunity happen. Due to the risk that these labels have taken, I would hope that people recognize the financial risk that was taken and reward these labels with their support.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Music is not a work it is an art, meaning of life and message. When music becomes work it also becomes commercial since you would always do the most selling genres.

Musician produce music as part time hobby as meaning of life not as daily work that's because you hear so uncreative, copied pasted and similar "music.

I assume you messed up with two different phrases, well advertised "product" and musical talent. To keep you pay taxes you should go for well advertised product which ppl will like because product would be what ppl seek for otherwise noone will buy it, when musical talent is personal artistic point of view. That's why Skazi is more known than OTT. ppl buy CD to listen at home when OTT is easy listening home music but Skazi is dance music which is for partying but still he has much more sells because he is better in commercial aspect with zeroed talent.

So here is the question if you start to make music to pay taxes(object) or to produce something which ppl will remember(soul)?

No, i'm not. Well you seems to be not an artist as well so we should have different point of views being at opposite sides of barricade.

Seems that Mubali is true artists at least he sounds this way.

Detox i don't think you will understand it but you should really see the things goin on at music creation section when new musicians trying to learn bass structure or arabian scales using books when music is about state of mind which can't be daily work.

So ,if I didn´t got you wrong, your pointv is: that a person who makes music 18 hours a day and release music expecting to get paid for that is not an artist...OK,so...what it is,a taxi driver with a wrong vocation???

Because cab driver is a job and music is art. Musician is one who doing art, producer is one who doing job with limits and bounries of time or money. Taxi driver can be talanted driver so he can challenge in rally or other competition as a part of his free time, can upgrade his car with self made details or watch play snooker (feelings, things he like to do spending time on without getting object but joy). Music is an art so it is challenge to do things better basing on feeling nor objects.
Person with whole talent in the world can't make music 18 hours because music is feelings which come and go. Real musician can have productive hours or not but not 10 hours per day work time. ( it's like to waiting in toilet without to feed yourself)
The one you reffering to called producer since he produce, he has time and object limits same as his production becomes.

no doubt that real music is art and just comes from the love for it....

but I wonder why (almost) everyone thinks art is for free and u dont need to pay for it...
