What do you think about artists doing drugs while they make their music?
Do you think the music should be done naturally and without and chemicals or herbs?
Do you think its unfair that the artists who do drugs have the etvantage of achiving better music then the artist who choose not to take drugs?

I myself belive that its a bit unfair for the clean artist, but as long as I get good music I dont really care!

If there were a competition in the psytrance industry (wich I belive there isnt) you could compair this to taking drugs at sports events, but as I said, the industry is steal strugeling and there is no place for competition...

          Its the vibe that matters.

Who say that artists on drugs make better music than artists on no drugs?

I am sure I will hear a lot of "wisdom" about how good drugs are for the music.... please spare me... Just prove that people on drugs make better music than people on no drugs It's impossible !!!

Sorry, but this is a very stupid discussion.
There is no proof an artist under the influence of drugs makes better music than the one who isn't.
It depends on the person...
And i'm sure artists who regularly make music under the influence of drugs also make some tracks without drugs... and vice-versa.

nobody has to prove a thing ... i believe that many of all-known classics were made while a man was on drugs ,so what ? as far as music is good why bother how was it made ?/. first of all it depends on the creator, , if he has his magic - he will find the right mode for himself to create things .. sahi balata or smoked to the bones - as far as music is good it doesn't bother to me .. and i wouldn't compare to the doping situation either , it's like : "how he runs it in 9.68 ??" - "well , what do u want , he used acid all his career ..."           Dance is my Trance

I seriously doubt any real work was done under the influence of drugs - Extasy with the vaunted lack of concentration, LSD with the way it twists the sounds and the perception... An artist needs to focus in order to make music - that doesn't go well with drugs. Inspiration from drugs is a totally different matter.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

The guys from GMS have been aqquainted with ayahuasca and salvia divinorum, smoke marijuana, dmt and hashish all the time and take ecstasy like wild.... especially ecstasy and that is why they make very fast like 100 tracks a month or so...

.... not always good quality music tho

(ps. not being serious... or maybe...)

and as for the subject, i can tell you this. and artist on drugs may think he's doing better

do you think that in order to create truely psychedelic music you have to at least try psychedelic drugs (not while producing of course)?

i've made music on drugs before and the results were no different from when i make music when i'm sober. (IMO) it just takes a whole lot longer seeing that you can't focus as well as you can when you're sober. so i prefer producing with a sober mind.

Definitely not. I have heard wonderful psytrance from one artist (that I can think of...won't say the name for privacy sake) who I got to know a bit, and found out most of the music had been written years before ever taking any sort of psychedelic drug. He released an album as well as a couple compilation tracks during this time. All were highest quality psychedelic trance.

Eventually, the guy did try acid once or twice, but that was years after he had developed a very psychedelic musical style.

I think that the mindset required to conceive and use the elements and layerings in music that we refer to as "psychedelic" can be inherent in one's musical vision rather than something acquired through a psychedelic drug.

Such topics really piss me off .
I'm fed up with all this -- "if you listen to trance u must use drugs' or 'trancers are junkies' or -- 'artists who make music with the influence of drugs make better music' or 'without drugs you can't feel the music and you can't actually enjoy it'.
Crap. okay? crap.
If someone makes music it is because he is talented or has a music tendency and such.
What the hell does it has to do with drugs?
Who said drugs makes you a better person?
So it twists your mind and you subjective experience. What's so good about that?

Most of it is just hype, to get attention, because it sounds so cool to some people....

Musicians didn't wait for the Birth of Psychedelic Trance to get stoned...

...getting stoned is as old as Humanity itself.

It's just one's choice to explore this or not along his life.

you must admit that drugs do open your mind....
I don't say that it is the only thing which does it, but it is easier with drugs for some...
i think that for the same reasom you can say that ppl take drugs on parties to "feel the music".
