i always take acid when i create. in the result i have mental vision how i should use kick drum and hihat togheter playing in mistic harmony. if acid is good enough i strongly feel the moment i have to mix goa snare into my track. during searching of perfect psychosnare i'm diving through the depth of my mind and sloution of my soul and mother nature breath. fullon bassline is coming on time when i resolve all problems with snare and kick. after that acid is releasing slowly. all other things i can create without acid.

to all people who seem to be "fed up" with this topic: calm down, read something else.

to the topic: i think that there is no connection per se between the music and drugs. but they are very close to each other. and why is this? the connection lies in the word "trance". psytrance is supposed to bring you into a state of trance. one possible way to reach this kind of trance very fast is to take drugs, but there are other ways (yoga, meditation) which are much healthier in the long run.

i don't think, that artists under the influence of LSD for example can make good tracks. it seems quite impossible to me.
but inspired by LSD? of course, it's obvious, isn't it?

<quote>artists suppose to do music , not drugz !
and especially not both of them... </quote>

wrong! an artist is supposed to do, whatever he likes to do, like every other human being as well.
if he wants to take drugs, it's his choice, if he doesn't want to, it's his choice as well. we should not judge such a choice, as long as he is old enough to make this choice in a self-responsible way

As long as he has killer mixes I don't care about what drug an artist takes. I believe artists can take care of theirselves (but maybe I'm wrong, ).

I must give my opinion here, since this topic caught my attention,
It's not like the drugs are like a magic, that when you take them you make music much better...
After all it's the person who makes the music, and not the drug itself, so it doesn't really matter, what it does, is giving you a chance to try listen to the music from different perspective.. and sometimes you get influence from it
so it doesn't matter sober or stoned it has nothing to do with it...

They all died from drug abuse... I am sure the world of music would have been much richer today if they hadn't died !!!!

Oh by the way as far as I know Motzart did not do drugs and he's properly the biggest genious of them all !!! I rest my case !

and maybe music which they contributed would not have been as rich as they did !!!!
and maybe Motzart tried to drugs and could not handle it ...

i tried this too kino oko...but my hihat sounded very unpsychedelic, and the snare was just not epic enough. but the kick gets always very mystic when i create on drugs.

and yeah, what gilad wrote is correct!! just little story : some friends of me are doing hiphop music and usually smoke a hundreds of joints before rapping. well i was once in their little studio while they were making rhymes, they said that those were the best rhymes they ever recorded and blah blah...but i only needed one listen to find out that they were not in the tact for any second!!

for myself i sometimes smoke a little one before making music because it helps me to get into it better. but when u smoke so much that u just like everything u do, u should think again of ur production manners           Anakoluth A Pebble in Your Eardrum's Shoe since 2001!

I'll tell you a little story too

Jean Borelli (Orion) and I once (1996) went to teh Green Nus Of The Revolution's studio to record soem tracks for Flying Rhino (as Sheyba)...

Sid Shanti came there to visit us and he brought a bottle of Vodka (Finlandia as far as I remember). Needles to say that we drank it but surprise surprise....Some leaves of heavy skunk was also in the bottle which made us very very high.... End result = 12 hours of coma sitting listening to one sound from an ol Arp synth.... How creative is that? Well we did have fun though

And what happened to many of these brilliant artists? Many went down the drain... They almost all started on "mindexpanding drugs". Hendriks got hoocked on dope and died as a result of it womiting in his sleep on sleeping pills and dope.
Jim Morission from The Doors is another example of a dopehead dying as a result of abuse and what about Janis Joblin, Kurt Cobain, Elvis Presley and many many more? They all died from drug abuse... I am sure the world of music would have been much richer today if they hadn't died !!!!

I have to agree with you kaz. I believe that a normal person cannot go into a trance state without taking drugs. But that doesn't mean you need to take drugs to do good music.
The only thing you should know is the way - the way the music should follow inside your head...

This is simply one of the most stupid things I've ever read in this board.
I don't know whether you used drugs or not, but I can assure you that with the right music, mood and atmosphere you can get into a state of mind which is both clear of drugs and extremely trancey and psychedelic. And the best way to know it is by your own personal experience, which you seem to have none of.

Second option: I'm not normal

Gilad, try to write those drunken thoughts next time you are drunk, read them when you are sobber again and think again if they are genious!

i think you were very close there.
i write most of my tracks sober but it happens to me that i write 9 mins of a track while im stoned, but when i listen it sober my opinion is not the same,
despite the fact i cannot write the whole song on drugs, i find really interesting adding different substances to the multitrack
