I see a big difference between progressive and gms and astrix and even a lot of psy is different !

But of course you can always find similarities between all kind of music.

The funny thing is, I just got a compilation called - Avalanche of sound, finest collection of progressive trance -

And guess who is on it -- Astrix

well nikur u are right
that astrix track on avalanche is excellnet
i already wrote about it few months ago when i got the cd.

so thats the hole idea
we dont care if its astrix or x or z
we care about the MUSIC.

and that wasnt the purpose of the thread-its not another fight on full on vs. prog.

and btw e.p i wish u happy birthday!

Yes, nikur - and the track of Astrix and Atomic Pulse on this comp is probably the highlight of the compilation.

with excellent sound
so what?
and yes i also think its the best track on the compilation
it still doesnt mean i like full on.
i just think its a great thing that he is bringing back the glory to isreali trance.

Yes I have known the Astrix/Atomic Pulse track for quite a while now and yes it's quite nice but not ground breaking though (imo).

I was actually refering to his full on tracks which by the way are very nicely produced - productionwise.

Zohar is quite right. This post was not about who's best and what genre suck most. Again it was a consious provocation and a debate starter. Which I must say did start a debate

But to nail my opinion down firmly. Yes I do feel that a split will benefit especially the proggy scene. It's no secret that Full On is very big many places in the world and it will for sure survive without the proggressive one hour exposure in the Full On parties... I am not sure that progressive will survive in the Full On parties !

Thank you for the birthday greeting Zohar

by the way again - Avi allready got his respect in REAL progressive way with his (their) HUGE and extremaly good tune - Private Taste (Avi, Ido (Domestic) and Lior Miller) - First - relesed on Automatic two years ago, Ashtrax remix (that gave a good taste flavour to this club trance hit, keept a flow and melodie perfectly safe from changes) been played again and again by top club djs everywhere around. Digweed even printed copy for himself before it was printed at all, RESPECT, OK? and today this timeless melody will tuch you, if u still didnt hear it, take a listen.

Elysium Project, concerning ur will of musical style separation in parties, it is already done in big festivals: You have the "Goa Zone" you have the "Progressive Zone" and the "Chillout Zone". I know trance has evolved greatly since Astral Projection (who brought the Trance message and spread it widely around...) though i dont think of trance music in terms of prog/full-on/goa/psy. 4 an example: when u hear a trance track u know it is such...even when u hear a chillout track made by an artist who usually produces trance, u can still hear the Trancey influence...it has a vibe and you feel it's made of the same good spirit as made in the usual 4x4 trance (call it whatever...goa/prog/psy...) i've listened to trance music from the beginning, and i've seen the music changed into all forms of sub-geners and i can say that i still love it all.

haven't read any reply here but I will just say this....on samothraki I saw peter didjital dancing to full on and I saw dimitri nakov dancing to progressive...and after that (and much more other things)I really don't see such a big split here...as long as there is enough respect I think there shouldn't be any splitting up...and the examples Elysium put up are stereotypes if you ask me...

I still think that this scene is too small to limit myself to only one sub genre of it....sometimes I'm more into progressive and sometimes I'm more into full on..but in the end...I'm just glad to be a part of it

ps just wait till Cross Links 2 compilation...It will brake your theory apart!!           DJ Dovla | Interchill Records, Flow Records

Well if you also read my post you would (hopefully) know that I was beeing quite ironic when I stereotyped people from the Full On scene

As I wrote later down in my post:

"PS! I know that the progressive scene have it's stereotypes too....
My example above about stereotyping people from the Full On scene was as I said - a provocation."

well..
i changed my mind i dont want the scene to split..
but i dont want the parties to stay fullon-only..
i want it to be like 2-3 years ago, parties with all kind of styles with perfect order..

well yes i loved fullon, but it was not the same as today..
i still like to remember this time and listen to some fullon tracks that worked for me..
for example: The Good The Bad & The Ugly - Pura Vida..
while dimitri nakov likes to dance to progressive i like to dance to his fullon (well maybe only this track)
wizzy noise i like and the old bio-tonic.
and there are more fullon tracks that i like.
but what you have in parties today is only same fullon..
well maybe astrix make good progressive, but his fullon sucks..

if parties orginizers wont invite progressive dj's/artists to play in their parties than it will split, or the progressive music in parties will disapear completly.

about the festivals:
a festival its another thing, its not a party its a festival, so im talking about "underground" parties..

I think full-on today is much evolved from two years ago - I am not talking about Astrix/Alien Project/clones, much of GMS, or TIP World releases - most of that stuff I don't find very 'psychedelic.'
Look for the less commercial artists. Take a listen to Penta, CPU, Miraculix, Shift, Fungus Funk, Hyper Frequencies, Menog, Mr. Peculiar, etc. etc. You might be pleasantly surprised.
Many of them borrowed heavily from the progressive and tech sound - there's definitely a lot more emphasis on the flow of the music, and the texture of sounds, and a lot less on the catchy epic crap.

cheers!

well ron i think u are right
but thats the prob that there is no prog here almost
and if by any mistake someone put prog artist in the line up it will be as the opener cuzz its slow music and we all know the full on must come in the morning..
(thats besdie yuli&yosi that let mapusa play in the morning) i remember once oma coma party with sbk and they let him open the party so noone heard him..isnt that stupid? (beside synthax)
and yah like u said the prog in israel will disapear if noone bring prog artists.
