Well to be frank this is a fantastic thread........all smiles laughs........came from all around and I am sure I will laugh like nuts for longer period of time..........

1 Exxperience I would like to share......which is stupid........but not me......

there was this dj who was playing in a disk who is still learning and trying to make a name........one wanna be fucker wanted to impress the crowd and wanted to talk to this wanna be DJ and approaches this DJ ........

and guess what ........DJ reduces the master volume to zero...........and is shocked as if he didnt do anything.......and searching for some mistakes in the players and the CD..........

Now anyone can beat that?

we got booked by a private organizer for a somehow private event...
it turned out to be a private student-club party you know, these student-clubs which dont let anyone be a part of it.
well it was full of very snobish people and they wanted to hear popmusic, and the girls asked us if we could drop their louis vouiton bags behind or desk. and they did it with the most snotty atittude you can imagine.
we only had some minimal techno and besides of that we had an old libary of semi-pro electrohouse which worked a little bit, but we where spammed by people wishing everything from popmusic to things i have never heared of. we finally played realy some techno later, had fun with the 3 people dancing, then we took the cash, grabed a cab and decided to never ever play on a private event again.

Back before I did live and was just DJing I always had a set of CD's of 15-minute long mixes I put together before hand. The series was called "Bathroom Breaks" and I saved them for whenever an emergency suddenly came up.

Of course, now that I do live sets, going to the bathroom is much easier lol!

sometime ago i used to play on internetradio live shows, back then my youngest was only under a year or so.
so sometimes i had to go back to put her to sleep and for those occasions i had pre-recorded 30 min mix ready

if i remember corectly, once i had to use it           http://www.myspace.com/polly_potb

Master fader right next to the second CDJ's channel's fader. Usually slam up the fader when I first bring in a new track. Guess what happened.

I had a moment like OP's; I had a tracklist all planned for this one set, I was going to play the third track on Groovezone's 'Afterhourz' at 132bpm, which meant I had to adjust by around -1.5percent on the cd player. What I had written in my notes was instead track 2, which ran at 128bpm, which I then pitched down, live, -1.5%. I didnt even realize wtf was going on til halfway thru the track... I played it off alright and the rest of the set was great and the dancefloor looked happy, I just look back and laugh...           .

yet another fail for me

few weeks ago i was ending my set wich was also last set of the night and i thought i end iw with a bang and put azax syndrome and toxic: Rain wich is just huge build up till end so at last break just before last blast cd STARTS to SKIP!!
I had all my things packed up like cd's and headphones so i panic and faded track away... everyone was like WTF?? i saved it with playing one extra track...

thing is that i checked cd before i put it on and also after and dont see anything that should cause the skipping ??           http://www.myspace.com/polly_potb

Please tell me you learned from this not to rely on remembering BPMs and calculating pitch change...

beatmatching by ear really is not that hard!

He is using traktor, not traktor scratch.
