hope no organiser reads this:
-played same track twice
- killed a mixer with beer
-played a progressive house set between two dark psy djs, cause all i had was shiny happy smooth tribal beach prog sound, maximum 132;)
-played a t the wrong floor and told the dj to leave cause its my set now, haha
-didnt noticed that my cd burner was broke and burned about 20 cds and none of them did work on stage
- played the intro on a full on party and told the people that i rise the bpm "plus one" for every jaegermeister i get (by the way polly and miazu played after me).
so i started with ambient and stopped 145. set was nice, but the rest of the night was not..
-no monitors on stage and 2 un-pitchable cd players
-a monitor on stage which sounded brilliant but on floor peopel were screaming cause there were to much treble

having been lost on the party timeline - like mixing track for 2.30 in 3.30
or for 3.30 on 5.30.

breaking out of party dynamics and long-time mixes (4 hrs) is my worst failure ever.

kind of breaking the things :

2 Dennis the menace - it's not strange to discover a psychedelic aspekt of popular dance music, just to mix with proper trax in proper order

oh, one time messed up with acid quantity and quality flapped out an mosquito on my hand after he had drunk a loot of my blood, so the were a trace of red color, well-known liquid substance at the rear sid of my palm. and that was very embrassing and frustating
also it was my first real expirience on a big party - so it was real weird to find the all the tracks are telling the same thing.
you pre-listen it in the headphones - and the track is telling the same things, that track is playing at the dance floor, and all that people were looking at me, oh no
emotional crashout, but fun

I was once playing and had a problem with the sound, so I started just playing in my headphones, so I could hear the mix correctly...

well someone bumped the amp and something came out, cutting all of the sound to the big speakers...

I didn't notice, because the monitor was still blaring...I thought it sounded kind of quiet, but all the levels were good....

I think and hope everyone thought I was just keeping the mix going, but that was pretty embarassing...

I didn't even know it had cut out for like 2 - 5 minutes until after the set.....

- Burned about 20 new CDs only to discover that I burned them all as Data CDS
- Hitting cue on the wrong CDJ ( did that alot for awhile there)
- Think my mix out of the previous DJ is going perfectly, then realizing that the crossfader is on waaaaaay to late
- The last gig I had I brought my CD case of Only stuff that is NOT psytrance. Needless to say my original set plan didn't pan out :-/

this thread is so cool..

i burned alot of cds , presorted in itunes..and did click the marker @ use equal loudness or something..

all my cds where burned way too silent..i realized when djing in a club that evening, where i had to raise the amp that loud so the sounds ached in the ears..

lucky that it was kinda ping pong set and i could get out of it after first track..           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

hehe there's some funny stuff here =)

i had a not to bad but stills a bad moment!!
i was playing (Darkpsy) in a smal party and i just had finished a mix so i paused the music to eject and change the cd but i pause the wrong deck, the deck that was playing in that moment... the music starts to do " trum trum trum trum" on the sound system,DAMN.. so i put a smile on my face, trying to show that was deliberate i put play again and the music goes on! and for my surprise all the people enjoy it with the hands in the air and saying YEAH! LUCKY ME =)

I went to a festival this past weekend and the organizer (who knows me) saw me with a record bag (at the time only contained Nitrous and related paraphernalia). Asked "did you bring your music?"

"yeah"

"good, you're playing!"

Well... I didn't bring my headphones, and I hadn't burned a lot of my new music I'd just gotten, and the music I DID bringwas very disorganized

Anyway, time to play and the previous DJ says "Oh by the way, the right fader is messed up, when you bring it all the way down the volume comes up again"

Great, I have to use the crossfader

Cue 2-4x me forgetting the crossfader was over to the side and not realizing because I could still hear the track in my headphones >:(

Interesting topic

Some things that happened embarassing situations for me (although most of them I have learned to avoid):

- using the channel filter in DJM-800 and forgetting the filter knob to point to little bit side of the middle position (so that lowest frequencies are cut )

- playing eject button of wrong CDJ

- performing with CD-player (e.g. Denon) with very old and unaccurate pitch slider with a "broken spot" (a spot in where you are unable to set the pitch accurately), noticing the behaviour too late and being forced to do change the tune so that tunes are not in beat.

- pressing accidentally Cue-button of
currently playing deck

- playing for crowd (suomi-crowd or people that like twilight or UG-psy) that really dislikes cheesy morning full-on, deciding to play a new tune that I have listened only from the beginning (maybe first two minutes) and sounded very good from the beginning and noticing that in the second half the tune transforms into the most cheesy possible israeli morning full-on )

- the classic "worst mistake", a tune ends accidentally before putting a new one and there is silence of a few seconds. Although almost all of the times this has happened to me with turntables as I don't spin them so often (always in unofficial small events with friends) and am not very experienced to judge the remaining time of a vinyl track.
