If someone really wants to help psy trance then people should start buying original cds of their favorite music and artists should start spending more hours in the studio creating more innovative music rather than copying each other and remixing Ghostbusters and The Smurfs.

Thats what I think, People should buy more of the music they like and pay for it!
Artists should sit on their Ass and try and make Inovaitve music. Try giving a track more then 2 days collabration
Thats how listeners will appriciate this music more and how you can be more true to yourself.

@smuhg
What with all the capslock big letters thing ??!

believe me, i know what is underground....you don t know......
Let me tell you that a music who sell around 2000 cds (in average) is an underground one...whatever you say about it....for usual people, even the most commercial track of infected or yahel is very underground !
and to answer ellezzdi who says : "what do i care if the common people dont know psytrance?! ", i would say that it is VERY pretentious from you to classify you as a "not commun" people, and also that if you are lucky enough to have access to psytrance where you live, it is good for you, but don t be egoistic and let the people who live in argentina or venezuela, or many other countries, decide by themselves if they would like it or not! And to have access to this music, what do you think? they must know about it !!! And the best way from us to respond to some demand that we have from there, is still to do like any other kind of music...promote ourselves....and i still believe that this is not "commercial", as long as the music doesn t change!!!
Now, ask yourself why BNE, Hommega or Chemical crew are asking their fans to vote for their artists ? because it is just the normal logical following.....we don t force you to vote....we don t force you even to read this topic....
Anyway......october vote is expected from he people who understand that this is the next logical step....

i do understand what your saying, and i try to remove my previous writings, now i see things in a diferent perspective..
not much time has past since my post but some important changes occurred, anyway i got to be honest, i have something like pop-phobia.. it's not about the music itself being pop (i do listen to pop sometimes), it's more about the majority of people that listen it..
that seem to have no actual taste of their own and if you show them some music (not necessarly psytrance) that needs some processing of the brain or that has no voices or doesnt have those massive leads like tiesto, etc, they just say it sucks coz they dont get it.
anyway i have to disagree a little bit about the pretentious thing, since i do believe that the majority of psytrance listenners are special people, and not only psytrance listenners.. but that's another subject, maybe someday we'll discuss that personaly
i've just voted for eskimo, nothing personal, and althought your live @ boom 2002 is the 2nd best in my life, eskimo live is the number 1. althought now he's getting a bit repetitive (if you can pass him that message, thanks).
keep the great tracks comming out!

my bad, you can vote for 10 djs hehe

and to kinda explain a little bit my special people thing think about this (not that you need to think much about it..)
you can make a britney spears alike track no? (with or without the voice)
does britney herself can make a track like yours?
so you're maybe more special than her no?
and the same applies to the listenners...

one other point, sometime ago i was seeing a classic music concert on tv and one musician that was doing a solo at the moment made a small trick with the notes that was funny (it's called "trocadilho" in "street"-language-portuguese).
i smiled, the maestro smiled, the musician smiled, no one in the part of the audience, that i saw, smiled.
so my point is, what are they?
people that dont actually understand what their hearing but like the social status that listen to classic music gives to them?

writing is surely not my thing and so i apologize for not organizing well what i write, maybe not say it in the best way and not expressing well my thoughts.

happy vibes for all you special people out there.

man o man.....hi to all...

mr talamasca....ohh....i read the whole forum...really interesting....lots of points of view....thats really nice....

see the point view of the artist, the label manager, the spiritual trancer, the party freak....nice....its good, thats trance no??...all the diferent points of view and all kind of people together....respect in front of all....thats really nice...

but well, im just gonna show my point of view as all u done it....

for me, trance changed my life completely..this music-way of life is everything to me....since the first time i went to a party 7 years ago i realised that i wanted to make this music to express my feelings and try to show them to people like all the artists do it,well i keep in the same way of thinking and trying to make a living through these...its really difficult, but i know that if u want something u get it no matter how difficult it is....

mmm, in mexico the scene has changed in a way i never thought......its a shame, its really sad, at least for me....

and in the whole world is changing and getting bigger and bigger....for me its not good, i think everyone has the chance to get into it, but only if they really feel it...not because its trendy, or its a good place to take drugs....i know that theres so many ways of feeling it as many people in the world.....but i think u know what i mean...

rock stars are shit...in all the difeernt styles of music....they feel the power and they become blind....its sad really sad...but everyone takes its own place in the life....u decide man....its ur choice....nobody knows whats the right way or the bad way....for me beeing a rock star and forgetting the roots of the scene is the bad way....maybe for lots its the right way....

well....mr talamasca....i really enjoyed the sirius isness album....its something different and took me to places i havent been in a long time....nice choice...i think the best album of the year....

(also will be great to know where i can send u the rmx of the aweakening trak ???)

best vibes for all....

Its not always about becoming a rockstar.. ever thought that maybe artists would like there music to get heard by ALOT more people than just picky psytrance junkies who download music all day long?? Seriously, the site is great and its great EXPOSURE... there is no selling out here, nor rockstar attitudes so i don't understand why people are complaining... Especially to someone like Cedric who has not modified his music to please the masses, with gay vocals about love stories or my new girlfriend.. talamasca is not Blink182 here .. there's a HUGE difference and i think our great artists deserve alot more respect than that which they get from there "fans"..

I read the beginning of the thread and this is something that is important for me. I just started a label and I already see the difficuties on making any money @ all. Of course I am not doing it for the money, but I really wanted to put music out from artists who inspired me. I have learned plenty on the process. I am in a way priviledged because I am a graphic designer myself and I have been able to cut that cost. But, defenitelly this is nothing I do for self gratification, but somewhat of a dream I always had and finally I was able to put it together.

I can see Cedric's point of view. It is eveident from what he says that as a scene we are in decline from an economic perspective and that means that in the future there will be plenty of labels dissapearing. I think psy trance is in a void right now, as psychedelic rock was in the 80s. We are in transition and one generation away from another psychedelic explosion that will bring a new concept and a new paradigm of trance. We are in a cultural dip. Trance was created, it peaked, we had quite a ride and now it is again becoming smaller, more underground and more localized. If it is redefining itself again as the core community reacts against what is perceived as a loss of values. The ppl who will continue through this dip to the next peak are the real deal IMHO. The ppl who view it as Krell does. And this guys will make music and events that will be less accessible unless you are somehow personally connected with the trance. This are the ppl IMHO who buy new original CDs and understand the culture as a whole. It might became so small that ppl from a local city or town will just make music for their small local parties without the intent of distributing to other parts of the world. Also less ppl will become involved in making the music, but only those who really have it in their soul and want to spend time and money into something which will not pay back economically.

The other route is to adapt. Make the music more accesible and less rooted on core values. Transforming itself with the current culture and fashion and becoming entangled with the stablished commercial channels for the electronic music industry. With this route the music becomes integrated with the communications, promotion, booking and distribution systems of other styles of electronica. It will also crossover as we can see Iboga and ACDC with progressive house. Of course this music will inherit the legacy from the larger stablishment.

It is a matter of choice and what is important to us as individuals. I personally do not mind localizing and recreate the whole scene. But I also understand Cedric to continue on the other route, because trance would be finally recognized by its talent and measured as equals with any other electronic music. I think it is a matter of recognition.

On a last note I do believe the release cycles should be longer. We should give more time for artists craft masterpieces and us as label owners would be more picky releasing also. That way there would be same amount of labels, less releases... but every release would be packed with gems. I feel we have become too fast paced.

That is my opinion of course!

I think otherwise, but I think labels owners have to project their true visions and ambitions. This might divide the scene, but I do not really see it as the end of the world, on the contrary it might become a good step and evolution towards the manifestation of both sides of the coin.
