damn - where to begin? with the off-topic bit, of course.

first - ALL respect to YUKI - she is, without any doubt, my favourite dj of all: i have never been so moved by a set, and hundreds of others on a rain-drenched dancefloor will agree with me.

second - to whoever listed the tidy-trax girls, how can you forget anne savage?! she's AMAZING!

back to the topic:

i missed all the "no women no trance" parties, and i really wanted to go. i have all faith in the female ability to dj. i've cited two examples in the off-topic section of excellence, however i've heard (don't want to mention names) some really not-so-good female dj's too. and for exactly the same reason that there are lots of male dj's i don't particularly like...
in saying that, i just want to emphasize that i think that being a good dj requires certain characteristics:
1) a real love for the music (doesn't mean remembering all the track numbers!)
2) a real understanding of the music
3) a sense of integrity: not just playing the most popular tunes, but rather playing the crowd and oneself personally (with heart and soul)

i think both sexes are perfectly capable of these things.

RUH-spect.

in san francisco there are plenty of woman djs, and some of them play all the time:
Amanda
*christine*
DJKT
Saturnia
Dj Blondie

ps as for women not liking psychedelics as much.. huh?can't say i agree on that one- and maybe most of the philosophers from days of old were men because they were the only people given the opportunity to study such things at a time when women's role within society was restricted to the home and not encouraging for women who wanted to study, i don't think it has to do with different brain functioning!

Marcelinha sweety, long time no see hun?
Anyways i have followed marcelas fight against women dj prejudice in BH,and i have to say that it has being so unfair.I see no reason for that, if the dj have the skills, love for the music, good energy. What else can we ask for?Do i care if its a guy or a girl that is rocking the dancefloor?Well, to be honest iŽd rather have a girl, if you know what i mean Let the girls shine the parties, with their beauty and the skills.
Marcelinha good luck and keep on rocking allright!

I've noticed one thing...

if there are 100 guy DJ's... 10 will be really good.

but if there are 10 women DJ's, 7 will be really good.

To anyone who finds himself in Finland, DJ Elvira is the local idol here, with followers who verge on a fan-club level.
She playes Vinils only, and definately not the traditional 'suomisoundi'.

Another one here is DJ Taika ("magic" in finnish), of which I haven't had the pleasure to hear but she is a very lovely person.
