Maybe I r sucks but who cares? All I want from a DJ is good music and good mixes, It really doesn't matter to me if a monkey is playing.           Both teams played hard

a women dj, surely not. i mean its well known that women can't hear as well as men (for the same reason, i believe, that they can't drive as well) i think for all our good, no, in fact our safety, women should be banned from touching decks - who knows what sonic mayhem could ensue if they did...

er, i honestly don't see how it would make any difference what sex the person spinning was. i've seen a couple of good women djs, notably sally from flying rhino and stella nuttella (is she organic or turbo trance these days?). i think the reason they are so few and far between is to do with the slightly nerdy and trainspotting obsessive streak that you need to be so deeply into your music you want to listen to it constantly / dj. it is clear in most forms of dance music that most of the djs are men, and i think this is the reason, not because women are discriminated against or anything, just 'cause they are on the whole less anal than men

btw scary fact (ok maybe not) the average profile of a professional dj in the uk is male and 34...           >>love will tear us apart...<<

Gula K, the top Israeli female DJ in the trance world is a veeeeeeery good DJ. I love her sets. She's the only female DJ I've seen in action though.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

it dosen't really matter to me who's playing but
i guess a woman can put her ego aside and not make any "poza" because she dosen't need to "impress chicks", and be more sensitive for what the crowd wants and give a better set ?

If the woman like Trance abd have a talent, why not to be a Dj ?           ..."Be yourself, let your conscience guide you...

Its a strange phenomenon this one..

The Techno&Trance scene is very male-dominated, in the sense that the promoters are men, the DJs mainly are men, and the way it's promoted the artwork is all kind non-female-friendly.
Generaly in dance-music culture, the woman has always been the "club chick ", a dancer...so they're typically the ones that would go to see the DJs play and have fun, dancing.
Looks like the female dj image still doesnt persuade most people.
Also a female dj must be more cautious and put more work in the set than a male!
Imagine if a female makes mistakes in the set what most people will think? Is she a bad dj generaly or is she a bad FEMALE dj(most people). its like car driving and other staff that is male dominated
I am not saying all these are fair or nice but IMO this is the truth... thats propably one important reason why we dont see many woman djs.

i want to believe in electronic genre is going to be faster.

I agree with Tom, it is down to mens' brains which are more into obsession with things like knowing which track is on such and such an album from this or that label with this sample. it is something that women in my experience have no time for. It is not just techno trance - every music scene where obsession is required to be good - as opposed to say pop where women are very sucessful because of their vocal talents or beauty.

with the trance scene comes hallucninogenic drugs as well (and i know many of you won't want this to come in to it but....) more men like to take hallucinogenics than women. it is a rare women that REALLY enjoys hallucinogenics and wants to explore that area of their brain - most of the greatest philosophers were men. this may seem sexist but it is true and the truth is often unfair.           live life; be free
