I think there should be more woman DJs, the gals have a great touch with music and audience. You've already named all of them, but anyway.

HOOOORAY to GulaK, Stella Nutella, Jiga and of course Miranda, who also produced some great music.           Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

What we need is women spinning mad psychedelic trance wearing only a thong!!!!

That will be the day!!!!

On a more theoretical level though... If you study the development and influence of the female mind throughout the course of the modern era, you will notice that since this is a reality progressively less and less dependent on physical phenomena, in its beginings, throughout and presently, males dominated the world, in every sense of the word.. Politics, Science, Business, Art, Engineering, Philosophy, etc. It originally stems from the physical advantage that the male has over the female, and is filtered through and through societies and civilizations leading up to the present moment, in which you can find women intervening more and more in all fields, including music...
Like someone mentioned earlier, it took 50 years for women to influence the rock scene. Now they are all over the place and if i might add a critical note here, they have learned to control men by means of sex. In other words, since presently men run most of the world, and sex sells anything to them, women have been using it to their advantage resulting in people like brittany spears (all sex)... thus the way the mind works is by means of extremes and it, as a result shapes humanity. Thus in the beginning, there will be few girl dj's because psychedelic trance is the most cutting edge of music, and clearly, men dominate this field. Thus it will take time for them to penetrate, but they will.

Now, the interesting question is this, when will the women discover/sponsor/research/and devote their lives to a certain aspect of life to such an extreme that THEY will be the pioneers of such field.. THEY will put on the show and attend to it... THEY will be their own fans and create somthing sustainable.... Much as men have done with Psychedelic Trance...

In the end, the future is bright. Sex differentiation brings about an inescapable truth about nature, the need for copulation and LOVE for the survival of the race... Thus, two minds working together will definitely be better than one, or at least give it a new outlook...

Good luck to all the women out there. I wish you the best and if you would like to send your demos to me, please do so I would love to listen... Also a picture in a thong!!!!!

ja ja!!!

I am a female psy dj and a lot of times I forget that there are not many females doing what I do. 3 of my roommates (including my boyfriend) are all psy djs so its not really anything out of the ordinary around my house. But then I remember that in a few weeks will be my first time playing at a show with another female psy dj... I would say the only difference is in the way that males and females approach a dj set or a performance...though I can't put my finger on what that is exactly...

Oh my god, I just saw that thread now. Ironic

Although trance culture is suppose to be open minded and all, but I know quite a few organizers that honestly think women shouldn’t be d.j’ing.
This is one of the reasons we started with the “No Woman No Trance” party, and we’ll be following this line.

It's always nice to see a lady behind the decks, there aren't enough girl DJ's if you ask me. The only one I've ever seen at a trance party was Sally Doolally, although of course there are more...

I pretty much agree with what Tom Anteater said on the subject. I don't think girls are so predisposed to the 'nerdy, trainspotter-like' gathering of knowledge needed to be a DJ. I also think it has something to do with the scence being fairly male dominated and the underlying attitudes of a lot of men.

Don't let this put you off playing though, women! The girls I've known to take up DJing have taken to it much more naturally than many guys. Girls have much better internal rythmn. It's true!           "One nation under a groove".

I've seen one a couple times in LA, but I can't remember her name. She was bad ass.

My favorite female that I've ever seen was Ree-K in Japan. She is so tiny and when I saw her I expected pretty music, but she took me to hell. I loved it.
