Some part of psytrance is becoming mainstream, the other day i listened to some tracks in t5he supermarket jajajajajajaja.

As in everygenre there will always be some mainstream artist and some real good music.

I don't think it has much of a chance here in the US. The music itself might, but the culture surely will never be mainstream.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

The psytrance scene is becoming more fragmented, with a mainstream and an underground inside it.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

Also, between all counterculture scene's (raggae, goth, metal, ska, other kinds of rock) psytrance is still one of the smallest scenes.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

well.. proggie/minimal are VERY mainstream in israel - so naturally trance parties are more mainstream, but theres still an underground side to things - but if you take in account all of trance's genres, you could say it is pretty much mainstream here

theres mainstreem and heres ug... underground never stops sleeps nada... good psytrance is made all the time and there is still partys full of liquidshrooms that kick ass... yet theere is partys based on making money going commercial and trying to kill the spirit... lucky we that its not possible to kill the spiritus
i dont know too many "mainstream" peoples so its kind of hard to say if its mainstream. but at this time its pretty mainstream with my friends. all in all its a mainstreem!

The psytrance scene has been über mainstream since the early 90's where some unnamed artists decided to go from underground to stars on stage. Furthermore the psytrance scene became commercial when the scene put itself into the (greedy)hands of the Fashion Industry. "Psy clothes (Or wannabe hippie clothes)" and the music became popular at Fashion shows in the mid 90's and (no)thanks to some DJs and artists it was exploited heavily.

Soon after Big labels and household DJs and producers smelled £ (pound - not dollars in this case) and took psytrance to a new commercial level backed by Big corporation money.

Today it's even more evident that it's a waste of time to debate if the scene is commercial or not.           www.beatagency.dk

Anything can be non mainstream and within the psytrance scene there is indeed non mainstream music and parties. BUT the overall public "face" of the psytrance scene is commercialized with huge Festivals, big artist fees (for the big names), corporate money involved etc.           www.beatagency.dk
