Errrrrr bollocks!!! I don't think you even bothered reading the thread... this is NOT prog vs full-on! The thread is about creating a journey by using both sytles in one night on one dance floor!

YSE isn't exactly the cream of progressive (not to diss the label) but if you have heard someone like Emok or Nadi (or even me for the matter ) You would know what progessive can really be.

And if anything is degradation of original ideas then look no futher than the pop commercial sound of Londons full-on parties (not all, but quite a lot). Track after danm track of the same formula... really aliened, give me a break!

The last day of the Glade will be prog only(in the Origin Stage) ,with Phil Chichime kicking it all off(Personally i think he is one of the guys in ourside of the prog/Hse scene that has the best tunes).James Monroe,Son Kite and Peter Digital will also play.
I myself will be playing 3 hours on Sat in the Origin stage so i will play pitched up prog hse and abit of prog Trance in the housier side for the first hour, And try and create a bit of a journey into deep melodic full on.There will be infusion,Sasha, and Paulo Mojo in the other tent. Not a bad weekened for prog head in the Psy Scene if you consider the size of the gendre

Yeah Kristian the Glade should be fat... and Son Kite live are massive... plus Peter is a damn fine dj also!

Good on you for mixing up your set too... a nice progression is something some dj's don't seem to understand... and I think its great if someone has a long set that they mix up the style a bit to. Should be a great set.

Keep up the good work!

This is what me and Nick were talking about yesterday.
How we need to find a venue for Toadstool with 2 rooms so that one room can be prog psy trance all night, then people have the choice to either chill ( thats as chilled as we want to go - 136-140bpm) or have full on at any time during the night.

We will have top quality prog dj's and not so well known ones to give them a chance too.

This is something for the near future when are more established and have more people coming along to Toadstool tho.

Things are a little lax at the moment and its hard work getting recognition being a fairly new night. So we stick to the one room venue we have in Gloucester.

Hey Corky... I know exactly what you mean... Dorset is full of one room venues...
Wer'e gonna try to make Vanilla Penguin a bit of a journey night..got Buju (domorecords) on the 16th september playing prog', finishing with a banging psy set from Nightskool(more on him later though).
Can't figure out another way of doing it ...won't make everyone happy, but at least everyone will have a taste of everything
I'd like to come to one of your nights Corky... could you email me when you have one coming (August onwards) gareth@merlin88.wanadoo.co.uk

The amount of poor quality trance around London at the moment is quite worrying really. I think the only night I have been too in London, where the music was consistantly good was Kaos at SE1 (KinDzaDza, Fungus Funk, GOW etc.....except for when Exaile played.....load of wank).
As someone said before, surely the way to please people with good music is to put on your own night. Obviously this is very complicated and there are risks but you don't HAVE to have a big capacity venue and you don't HAVE to have a full line up of international live acts.
I am speaking as an organiser of outdoor events so I could be talking out my arse...But we have never payed for live acts to travel from abroad and we have always managed to please with the music we provide (which DOES change from night to day).
There are lots of fantastic djs/live acts in the UK and many would be happy enough with having their expences paid for booze and travel and a bit of cash for their performance.
Yes we 'prog heads' are a minority in the UK trance scene, but it's not the end of the world. We can do something about it!!

Glen, you are very lucky to make tracks with Magus. I still play out the odd Magus tune and I think that their style hasn't faded over time. Even though some of the tunes are from 1998 they still sound banging.

Nice...yeah that's been on my 'to buy' list since it came out. The Bigwigs/Sensient tracks sound wicked.
We have no plans for another party as yet because it's been a bit dodgy with the police/press down here lately. Considering doing a night in London over the winter though...I'll definatly get in touch!!

my contribuition to this topic....

here in brazil this discussion was constantly but the public always do a pression to the organizers and the progressive is present in the most parties here, sometimes with great intertionals projects sometimes with good brazilian lives and djs. The festivals is a obrigation, progressive music every day!

this opened the door for other kind of music into psychedelic scene, now is normal listening electro, progressive house and other stuff in sets and lives.

there are some clubs doing progressive nights and party crews doing progressive open air parties...

it's not a fight between fullon and progressive music just a open minded though to diferent kind of dancing and good music.           progressive, dois cubos de gelo, limao e um pouco de açucar!
(progressive, two ice cubes, lemon and a little bit of sugar!)

Right on!!!!!
It's not about what style it is, it's about the overall. Good house can be just as 'TRANCE' as prog or full-on. Trance is a state of mind. It's all about the journey.
