Don't play tunes that have odd bar arrangements. Serves them smart asses right for wanting to be "different" by doing that shit instead of actually making different sounding music that works well on the floor.

LOL, sorry mate but i think this is just plain ignorant !

Ignorance is adding odd/weird bars in tunes that are meant to be played out.

The producer might not care for that though.

I'm going to produce a track where the intro is in 7/8 and the outro is in 4/4 but with 7-bar phrases. The middle will all be normal.

I'm sure all the DJs are gonna play it out!!

Well the shit DJs poor little heads might explode. Hopefully they will step aside and let the real talent lead the way. Then me & the mrs can justify going out to these parties again

If you can mix a 7/8s tune into a 4/4 tune without missing a beat, I will eat Goa Gill's laundry.

You left out 7.
Without going into a 6+ page debate about this one, arguing about semantics, I know you know a 7/8 track (is there a 7/8 track in trance/dance music?) will not sound very nice mixed with a 4/4 track...unless the drugs are really good

I think you have answered your own question by asking another question "is there a 7/8 track in trance/dance?"

Probably not, which makes this all irrelevant.

Really all we are talking about is extra bars. Or the odd 9 bar phrases instead of 8. Lets not pretend that this is hard to accommodate for. DJ's have a very easy life. The amount of effort needed is so tiny compared to production. They really don't need to be moaning about these little things.

So where there will be a crash on 16 bars, there will be a crash in 14 or 18 bars.
Anyhow, not moaning about it as none of the stuff I am into has this sort of thing going on, and its not like people have to cater for my taste, just wasting time have a chat about it, innit.
