Small review for the compilation itself ...

BLT & Danni Makov / Patterns Ofc(A Balter Extended Version) :
very nice techy tune ... realy dig the deepness of the track ...good starter ...
(my favorite on the compilation)

Maelstrom / Remember Your Inputs :
I was expectng something a bit more pumping from Emok ... a nice Track thought ... but heard better ones done by him ...

Peter Gun & Terzi / Acapulco :
not realy my cup of tea ... sounds very oldschoolsh housy (not realy fresh)... and the bass after 3.20 sounds very influenced by Maelstrom - Disco Chick ...

Nyquist / Delctribe :
nice funky tune ... the first track that remembers me of the last "Set" Style ... "he got the funk"

BBE & Krusseldorf / The World Is Our Oyster (BBE Mix) :
Also a soso tune ... Sounds a bit too dry to me ... nothing that realy hooks me up ...

C-Jay / 80808 (Jaydee Remix) :
An other 80 arpegio tune ... as we heard sooo many before ... for sure workng on the dancefoor ... but not somethng timeless or unique we hear here ...

Elegant Universe / My Nature :

This tune is wicked ... very nice atmosphere ... speciay like the final part of the track ... nice buildup ...cool percs and breaks ... an other winner for me ...
gives kinda fresh breeze to the ompilation ...

NDSA / Circus Junkies :

Bodyrox ?Oh six Oh Yeah ? some ppl will know what i mean ... but nice production for sure ... i realy like the beginning of the track ... when there is no real bassline ...

Quantize / Sky Walker :
This one also remembersme more of the usual Set sounds .... nice tune ... cool production ... nice closer ...

Bottom Line :
some nice tunes on this compilation ... even if i heard some heavy influenced tunes from kinda "Big Tracks" who were done before ...
but some of the tunes go into a nice direction ...

but i think it would have been better to make a new named set of compilatios for this one ... instead of contiuing the "Set" Series with a completly different style ... I guess that's why some ppl here are a bit disapointed ... i think as the Set series allways were the kinda "usual" Iboga Sound .. and ppl expected it to to be continued in this style ...

I tend to disagree with that.
The very first Set compilations were not very "prog trance" oriented ...check out the first Set cds (until set 3), this had nothing to do with Iboga's nowadays sound...What you call Iboga's traditional sound actually only started with the set 4, but Iboga hasn't always been about freq and liquid soul
I remember some early minilogue, or old son kite ,phony orphants, llopis etc that were already considered at that time as house oriented and this was Iboga's traditional style ... not talking about the very early releases that were very "minimal and trippy trance" oriented , definitely not what people used to call progressive trance, other labels were releasing more "classic" progressive trance such as spiral trax, zma etc.
Iboga has always been about variety , the ones that says the opposite have no memory or weren't there back in time (so have no clue what they are talking about)

As you sayed "Ibogas traditional style" ...
they allays had their own style even with a big variety of music ... and the "Set" releases were mostly in the line of the courent Iboga releases ...
But "Set 8" was very different from the courent releases of Iboga ...so it was a very unexpeted "Set" part ...

After they released their fist V.A.s like "Tryptamind" or "Set2" u kinda knew the directon they're going and it definity sounded like the beginning of progessiv trance ... it was something new however u wanna call it ....
"minimalprogtechnotrance"...
i have to admit specialy "Set1" was very differen from the following "Set" releases ...

I didn't mean to say that progressiv trance allways was Ibogas mark ... but in some way they were allways connected with the evoluion of the progressiv music ...

All the best --->

I will add/repeat again that Iboga Records will always stand for a diverse range of electronic music. Thats also why listeners cant expect that the set series will focus on the same style everytime.           www.myspace.com/michaelbanel
