I just posted some stuff on the videoclip as a response to the superb clip of Shiva Joerg's "Illuminati" tune. One of the reactions was as following:

<<<I think this is sick to put psytrance in background of such a clips.>>>

I'm curious how people feel about using psytrance for raising political awareness amongst people like Shiva Joerg did in this clip or how Acidance does that for example with their latest coverworks.....for me perosnally I dig it bigtime and it's time we all wake up and work on GLOBAL and not just personal consciousness....

I'd like reactions here plz...

If the message aims to improving things and has a positive message in it I don't see any problem in it. Its one way to deliver a message to the masses and these times call for action. I would like to see clips with environmental message, it somehow fits to the ideology of psy culture better than direct political messages.

I personally would like to hear more Psy with political message as long as it's not populized and done for sake of self promotion. Throwing crossfading images of Bush and Co and saying that it conveys some sort of a political message is as convincing as the agenda of the people behind "Fuck for forest" http://www.fuckforforest.com/
If you want an example of geniune political message in popular music listen to John Lennon's Imagine.

Rock against Bush, released by Fat Wrecked Chords based in San francisco,I believe Fat Mike From NOFX owns it though.
Back to the politics, i think trance could be a great way to make the wake up call on its particular way, basically on people that for one reason or other are not aware of what's actually going on on the world they live in. why not take the message outhere? using the music that we like, not a bad idea huh?. as long as it doesn't get anoying on a certain way or another,I'd say go for it. i mean Bush is not the only thing to be against of, you know what i mean?.
by the way if you want political music listen to The International noise Conspiracy or Propagandhi.

Nathan, i don't think anyone believes they can change the world by combining music with politics or any other sensitive issues but If we can use music to create an awareness amongat people then why not?

So many people don't give a rats ass for our earth, or whats happening to our waters or land or trees or our animals or even our own kind - HUMAN BEINGS!!!!!
Now if someone comes along and says i am going to try and do something about it and address these issues, i don't see why they should not do it!
Don't you think its a lot more meaningful, than some jackass making music where all the artist has to go to say is "KILL" and "MURDER", "BEWARE OF THE DARK SIDE"

I'm sorry, to me thats a load of fuckin crap!

I read an interview by Peacepect and HUGE RESPECT to you guys for making the effort! Fuck everyone man, you guys please continue to do what you truly believe in!

I wish i could do what you guys are doing but sadly am not a good enough musician.

Anyway, i hope our music takes this direction. I know i want to but its going to take some time.
Its time we stopped looking for fuckin' Aliens and started addressing issues thats much more important and dearer to us.

Go PEACEPECT!           Rather than feeling that you're about to have the rug pulled from under you, let me teach you how to dance on a flying carpet

oh .. My bad .. Well, it can. But psytrance isn't the music genre to do this, right now that is. But who knows. There's alot of "young" and "old" politicians that listen to and love punk, rock, ska, dub and other "good" music genres with nice messages. Things happen over time. Who knows what the future "rulers" of earth will be like. In 200 years all of "our" work might harvest fruits. To bad you and me woun't live to see it.

Music itself doesn't have direct effect on politics, but music may affect public opinions and when there's enough one kind of opinions it starts have effect on political field. So in this sense it is not pointless to make music that has political aspect in it. Music kind of takes roundabout way before its effects can be seen. Its another story to measure the effect of music in politics.

Hmmm big deal !

Because transmitting a message is not the essence of Electronic Dance Music. As for abstract paiting what is suggested to the listener are basically "emotions", "sensations"..

..Some artists, bands, or crews have chosen to merge the electronic background with voices. Here I don't speak about short samples, but introducing the voices with a singer, an MC, a poet, a reader.. And here we have two directions :

- One introducing the voice as another sound layer, and the "lyrics" are not what matter.

- The other dwelling on the contrary on a message, an idea, a rebellion, some feelings, or poetry.

In my mind, it is quite double-edged.. I mean I can LOVE some "tracks" with voices, may them be spoken, sung, shouted, cried, whatever, and in other cases I think they can ruin a nice background..

Now about politics the dilemna is even bigger, because I think you can't be fond of a track which you would not agree with the message transmitted..

..Best thing to transmit, if you ask me, is good humour !
