hello, my name is makus and i dont write promo texts =)
however i think illiterate = ignorant = disrepect. especially for those who sell. i feel a bit dissapointed when i see my friends from ukraine who registered, eg, @ myspace and wrote bio's like "trance went in his life 12 years old. musicmaking started in 15" or some bullshit like that (no offence meant). after all its not a big deal to proof the written text.
and the fact that there are many people who dont care about how a text is written isnt an excuse.

Badly written promotional texts (gramatically or content-wise) look bad. As all badly executed work (though I probably wouldn't define it as the real problem of the scene, but as a symptom of the real problems).

However, the fact that someone in the forum doesn't write in good English is not a problem at all in my eyes. The real problem is people who are making fun of people who don't speak (or write) English well. As if knowing English well makes you a better person. I actually respect people who don't speak the language well and have the courage to come and communicate. No better way to learn.

Moreover getting someone to write a promo text in good English isn't really that hard. Most people will just be happy to receive a free CD as a sign of thanks. Just need to ask

The problem is people not caring about what they do.

personally i do not five a f**k if somebody think that im speaking not proper english. because i know this fact and im trying to learn.

but when you are a label manager, you in entirly different position, wich means proffesionalism and respect to your customers\listeners of your music.

shahar explained it very well:
though I probably wouldn't define it as the real problem of the scene, but as a symptom of the real problems.

Some friends and I like seeing how many spelling errors we can find on a flier (South Africa, where the dominant language spoken at parties is English).

One that isn't that impressive, especially coming from one of the biggest party organisers in the country, was "Azax Syndrome"
