This would be a good thread to narrow the theory down to what is being used in psytrance/psychill..Theres tons of theory out there and unless you want to spend forever learning about jazz and classical and everything BEFORE you learn how to mess all of that up, i'd suggest this as a good "mother of all" thread..

Yes I agree. Perhaps the "Mother of all psy-musical theory".

Well whatever. The first poster didn't say what he meant, though.          When rain dries, clouds form.

I think one of the beautiful things about psychedelic music is that, it more often then not, doesn't need to follow any SPECIFIC theory. I guess that's probably why i haven't come across any thread specific to this.
There is so much room for experimentation and the art of creation can be taken to a different level altogether.
But it will definately make it more interesting when you are exposed to the creation and composition of various other genres of music!!
I would suggest pick your favourite other genre and start there - or stuff you listened to growing up-you will be able to relate to the sounds and possibly think of improvised methods of creation!!

The following link was passed on to me by some good souls on isra - hope you can find it of some use :

I think this is really a gr8 online site for theory, esspecially this lesson. really applies.

There is a lot of stuff which may or may not apply to psy but u can skip the stuff which offends the psy zealots.

Anyway, Ive realised the value of theory.
To me the music comes from inside, but theory helps u realise it, and support it in context(track) that ur working on.
And as u learn more, the music inside becomes more interesting too.

These are the best internet resources for advanced harmony, counterpoint and composition.

I think any1 who knows more than chords will benefit from this.
