macs rule, so here I am with the first question

just bought logic 8 few days ago and I got a tiny "problem" (more some kind of a hassle)

I'm working with a motu ultralite, sometimes with my monitors in my studio room, sometimes with headphones somewhere else...so here is the problem: my monitors are on output 1-2 of the card and my hp on output 13-14, so if I produced last on the monitors and want to do something on the hp now, I need to switch all channels to output 13-14 again

is there any way to do this easier? like a quick change for all channels or routing output 1-2 to output 13-14 or something?

some help would be much apprecated           https://soundcloud.com/hazak

As a rule, I would connect monitors/headphones whatever to the sum of all outputs of your card.

My card goes into the mixer for that reason.

But if you are still looking for a way to do this in Logic, you need to route all channels to an individual Bus/Aux, and everytime you'd like to change output, you just change it on the Bus instead of re-routing every channel.

thanx trip, my card got main outs for the monitors and a seperate phones out...no other way for me doing that right now since I dont have a mixer

I thought about the bus thingy, but wouldnt all tracks sum up in the bus and introduce some kind of clipping? I'm not sure, but my way of working is to have the tracks as loud as possible and then reducing with the master fader before they go into the output channel...dont know if this would work the same in a bus, does it?

There won't be any clipping...

ok thanx I'll try that out soon!

but I always wondered where exactly the master fader sits in the signal flow...I know somewhere between the channels and the output, so I always thought its directly before the output...but if its directly before the output, its after the busses and will just lower the output of the bus, so inside the bus would be clipping...anyone gets what I try to say?           https://soundcloud.com/hazak

Hey Guys..

here is an advice to set up a mac that works really fast..so like to get all out of it...first after a clean install..update the mac with all updates you know, but before that you should restart it..and plug everything of your machine..except of power and net cable..
then hold down the button to write in BIG letters..don`t know the english word for it...
untill it is booted up...then update..thats a tip from apple so if you do it like that, there will no 3rd party driver issues at all..after updating...you should install a harddrive program like techtool pro but be carefull with those programs...build up an edrive(ghost backup) of your harddisc...and reboot from that one...then defragment your main harddisc where you are going to install all your nice plugs and programs..reboot again to your actual harddrive and installl everything you want...after that repeat the whole thing...so start up from edrive and defragment your harddrive again...so everything will work at its best...

then a little trick is to install the little program DASHOFF just google for it or look at
Version Tracker..its just to turn off the dashboard to set some more ram free for usage..in my opinion the dashboard is not needed so it can just be turned of..

so thats a good way in my opinion..if anybody got some further ideas or critics just reply please...have fun

Cubasing is like Freebasing, just with audio.
Both cost more than you can afford, and leaves you sitting in a dark room with no life, craving for more.
