The majority of darkpsy cd's/compilations sell anywhere from 200-700 copies... I think this fact can pretty much rule out the marketing ploy hypothesis...

Furthermore when you type the words "satan symbols" you remind me of the Kitty Farmer character from Donnie Darko...

I disagree, because in our scene no "dark" artist live by the money he made with his releases, but they like to be booked and play at parties, and to get bookings (and blowjobs ) they must release to officially become artists.

That's why (IMO) so many "artists" wants to release anything on any label (even Spliff), because they want to be recognized as fast as possible as "psy artists", so that they will enjoy the fame benefits. So they (and the labels) want the CD to call more attention (this includes the CD cover).
Of course, this is only a theory.

Never liked Schlabba but Parvati indeed had many many good releases and none of them had any satanistic or whatever imagery or samples. It was funky and ultra psychedelic music.

hmm... I understand what you are saying, but I think it is not happenning in this scene very much at all. I think that the releases that you are seeing put out with "evil" imagery are being put out by people who enjoy "evil" imagery. Simple enough, right???

It is all about personal preference... Dark intent in psytrance is much more interesting to me than the same old faux-spirituality through pills and blotter intent that had dominated previously... Obviously I am not the only one...

I agree, that would explain most of these releases, but it doesn't mean other theories can't be applied simultaneously. The same way a fractal is almost a "trademark" of psytrance albums, these other covers kind of give a hint about what you're going to find inside.

Not that i am satanic cuz im not, but i would really appreciate if you stick your thumb up your ass and run away on the rest of your fingers and think about your statement while doing so.

This is about music and not about relegion!
And if im wrong it would be the same as asking all jews to stop calling their music full-on or whatsoever!

It's time to move on to the next step in the psychedelic revolution. We've reached a certain point, but we're not moving any more.

A visit to the website showed that it appeared to be a pornographic, soft contacts and drugs offering portal.

I think they saw Detox profile and saw that he released this http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/exp/exp1cd006.html

It all makes sense now, detox is a undercover cop here to destroy the scene.

i wouldn't have a problem with an artist who makes psychedelic trance under a satanistic background. the problem is that it's just not REAL enough, if i may use gangsta-vocabulary here. most of this stuff is nonsense done without any knowledge about symbolism.

i dont understand how one can call a tune something like "ruthless disembowelment", but still continues playing at parties for colourful people that love chai and blacklight.

the metal scene doesn't have a good reputation, but at least they are very proud of the symbols they created, of the "metal" things. they are REAL, dawg.

why is it that we have to adopt the themes from other scenes? why can't we ride our hippy wave any longer?

this has nothing to do with not being open to new ideas, not at all, it's just like in the famous proverb: you can't hunt with the hounds and simultaneously run with the hare.

maybe someone should start making gangsta trance. writing music about hoes and pimps and guns and expensive champagne. i wonder how those, who don't understand my reaction, would react to something like this.

cheers. roman.

the typical surviving instinct reaction, a consequence of music without soul.
