Psychedelia is pretty subjective. There is a new generation of punters in the scene today and what is trashy goth noise and super obvious cheese to older generations, is psychedelia to them.
Whether that's a bad thing or not is irrelevant, it is just the way things are. No one ever said that things will only get better for you and your personal tastes. The punters and their demand for certain sounds is what forges the scene. As long as there are more people that like to listen to full-on or prog or dark or whatever silly sub genre people that were way too bored, gave names to, then that is what it's going to be.

gosh, when are all these old geezers going to shut up about how it was better before and these new kids don't understand anything about anything. 
there's excellent music out there beyond trashy goth noise and obvious cheese. just dig a little deeper, or open you ears, will ya?
and yes, a lot of kids haven't been exposed enough to tell the difference, they're easily swayed by styles, etc. that's kinda the point of this whole post.

ok so I guess from coming back and reading all the posts my idea was just a dream... so Ill just leave that notion alone. Anyway my set time changed for the 4th of jupsy party so it wouldnt of sat well anyway..

There is still some good stuff, if there wasn't any, I would even bother listening to this music. But, there is SO MUCH shit music (as is pretty much with every other dance genre), and not just that, there SO LITTLE good music coming out that it is really hard to go to a party and be on the dancefloor from start to finish. It feels like a rock gig where you listen to your favourite people play, not like a 10+hour long journey.
Anyway, some peope do enjoy everything so more power to them.
I don't like pigeon-holing, I find it stupid and only good for a laugh when you are too bored/stoned to do something better in your free time.
And as I said, trance is a state of mind and is very subjective and no one has to answer to anyone for their tastes.

Why to be making "psychedelic trance" after all?
Why not to be making "music"?
All the "psytrancers" i knew were narrowheaded to only psytrance music and nothing else music.
Did i go to macroviewing from microviewing ?

I dont really see what the big deal is with labels. Its done for a reason, namely with so many releases it makes it much easier to find what your looking for. Its hard enough finding stuff I like, if everything was just "psytrance" it would be virtually impossible. |
