I don't want to be seem as agressive here. It's only my opinion.

People keep saying the music THEY like is spiritual, the church THEY go is spiritual, the ayahuaska THEY drink is spiritual, the woman THEY fuck is spiritual...

The women they fuck is spiritual???? Man what we are talking about here is not bullshit it is not only their experiences cause this is like a lot of people passing through the same experience it means that their is something true don't you think? the way you talked i understand that you mean nothing wrong man i just want you to understand that there is spiritual things in life many many many and one of them is music made from pure love and dedication. It is spiritual for this reason it is made on purpose to give a special feeling to the crowd it touches your soul.

I discussed this with a good friend of mine the other day infact and this is why I love trance so much and why I am infact addicted to it so much.

I have known that I can be a little psycic, and when listening to the music I often predict when certain breaks and beats are going to come into the track. But I often freak myself out when my body interprets the music so well that I make the right moves and know EXACTLY when something is going to happen in the music. Its that subconsicious movement of my body that makes my mind reel, cause here I am moving and dancing to the music and I dont even have to think about it. What makes it even more fun is when I'm listening to music that I can surely not predict (wicked, funky & psycadelic stuff!!), my mind will do it for me and its THAT thrill which keeps me hooked. The euphoria that the music gives me, the energy and the happiness is so indescribable, my breath gets taken away on that dancefloor, and I end up with a silly grin on my face hehehehhee.

You mean you can count up to 8/16/32?

Some of us would see this as recognising structures in the music. Others would say they are psychic.

Spot on!
Anyway, spiritual music is a subjective thing.
Speaking for my self, I find 16th basslines, mosquito plastik synth noises, random "cool" drug sample, and "obvious, reach for the lasers" lead lines and predictable music in general to be not spiritual at all, but rather boring.

ganjagil, iīm with you!
for me itīs frustrating to see that we are pretty lonely in here to believe in the spirituality of psychedelic culture.
other than in a lot of popular musical genres, in psychedelic music, as well as in classical music, indian raga or jazz, itīs the waves which directly affect your (sub- &) conscious and notion.
the fact that there are no lyrics speaks for itself.
we artists want to express moods exclusively through this cosmic language, not throough english, french or another particular language that first has to pass the cognitive part of the brain.
even more:
in instrumental music or music concentrating on wave-frequencies and not on abstract lyrics, you go beyond social barriers and pretention - itīs nothing but a strong tool
(like all the traditional trance music - an indian raga for example intends nothing besides getting deep into meditation and go beyond ego).
itīs IMPERSONAL and itīs only purpose is to take you on a trip which in turn is amental construct produced by your brain in itīs meditative state.
repetitive percussion-loops, 16th notes baselines mixed with weird sounds and impressive atmospheres are like ying and yang
psytrance is like meditation and data overflow at the same time (calm and hectic/ action at the same time).
this seriously affects your cognition and conscious enhancing creativity and subtle matter.
this subtle matter can manifest in "material matter" ("become real").

that means that you finally take those overwhelming experiences of ego-nullification and mystical worldnotion into everyday life.
there you get deeper and deeper into the practice of those spiritual teachings.
(which can be both, buddist or mystical experience).
the result of achieving higher states of consciousness are wisdom, compassion, inner strenght and PEACE

unfortunately, recently the psychedelic culture alienates from itīs original signification and gets more and more PERSONAL and ego rises.
thism is not goa
psychedlic culture/ goa IS SPIRITUAL!

the most spiritual experience i had was in a central city park in front of a tree with a good friend.
i would say it was the most beautiful day in my life.
for few hours i have seen the connection.
and the trees where just the rushing stream between the earth and the scy. like monoliths following the lines of energy which are leaving our small planet to the outside-world. i have seen the sun which broke up the clouds and sent its wonderfull stream of full energy to us, from us. everywhere. (no, nothing to do with hoffmann, weed or anything else)

but if i go to a tranceparty....
answer yourself: do you see such things on a tranceparty?? i see people, i see raving bodys, i see myself dancing, i see drugs, yes drugs. why is the scene taking so much drugs? because its all so spirituell? take a pill go on the floor and yes all the world is soooo beautifull. Isnt it?

Trancemusic is a try. But it is not necessary and its nearly failed, because too many people raped it. the space for spirituall experiences on trancepartys is nearly left.

I dont want to attack this scene here.
I just want to say: if we want to keep spiritual things connecting to this music, we have to take care about this scene like taking care about a little baby, which allready got hurt.

if we do not:
everything is just : blablabla

I am one of the people who is ready to tackle anything to get back the spiritual moments and the spiritual thread of this beautiful scene and like me there are many others the fight is endless but we do not care we are ready to fight for the good! We want the spiritual egoless trance tribe all over the world no matter what it takes! this year has been a bad one for our scene because it's gone all commercial but i think that because of this many new artists are working right now to get that special music back to being spiritual soul full music so maybe if not next year then the one after that it will keep on improving! We need more people to be baptised in trance we need more help! We need people to beleive how great and beautiful this is!

Come on people we need your support this is something far better than anything you will ever experience in this life!

indeed ganjagil.
but maybe we do not need to fight for it. maybe itīs the most effective to work on ourselves to spread this spiritual strength of peace, compassiopn and ego-loss.
in buddhism we say that itīs silly to allways DO something.
just being peaceful and positive will bring us further on our "quest" of bringing back spirituality, i think.
i for myself concentrated too much on society/ the world/ the scene etc. for a long time now.
as margaret thatcher once said: "there is no such thing as society. there are individuals and there are families". i add- there are friends.
so, letīs work on our own enlightenment and the rest will follow automatically.
read buddhist teachings, try to open you mind as much as you can, breathe deeply and be aware of the nature of your inner self which is transitory.

You are right and in fact we do not fight it we just do our own things in order to bring it back. The better person you are the more spiritual you become, the more friends you have, the more people will beleive in you! This is the only way we can bring back what is now almost lost! I am doing my part very well right now in Malta we have such a good good crowd man it's small but the people beleive in us and we give them the right thing! We are having a fab time in our small psy parties and we will eventually start growing little by little! It's like family! So yeah man keep working is the only way...

we will achieve, thatīs for sure

we should meet one day and have a wonderful party enabling everybody to have a mystical experience.
then, the non-spiritual people will automatically follow.

We will meet for sure cause we are sharing and living and working hard for the same dream! And i am sure we will be like brothers right away man! Such cool energy and our dream is endlessly beautiful cannot imagine anything better than an egoless community of lovely beautiful people dancing in the nature and a oneness in the music! A one big family!

anyway, spiritual is just a word.
the meaning behind it is
UNDERSTANDING YOURSELF and the nature of everything, which, according to buddhism, is empty, transitory and like a system (everything is linked with everything).
dualism does not really exist.
our brain invents everything we believe is fix/ changeless/ consistent.
LETTING GO is the key.

No, I don't think.
A lot of people pass through similar good experiences in a lot of places, including churchs (just for example, the churchs that stimulate people to kill theirselves and other people).

Of course a lot of people have lot's of amazing experience on dancefloors, including me, but to call that spiritual?

The fact is: trance music is just music. If there's something spiritual (which I don't believe) it's inside you.

Maybe something like: the spirituality is inside the souls of the ones who feel it, or choose to believe that what they feel is spiritual.

Wow, some lovely words coming out here guys!

Trance music aint just waveforms, bass lines and squeky sounds. Its a different concentration of energy being focused and produced to be heard by our brains. To be understood, loved, and taken with meaning. Ppl make this music with the intent of making other ppl love it and so it can be shared with others.
The music for me makes me think of those beautiful things in the world that we have seen and made us happy (like your experience Kitnam). It's those memories that we have kept that the music reminds us about. Like a certain sound that u hear may remind you of a happy moment in your childhood. Dont we always want to try remember all the goodtimes we have had in our lives, so we can be happy with what we have and experienced. What life has taught us and who we have shared it with. Being with friends at a party is just as great, because times spend with them are also remembered together, which kinda brings each of us together like a family.

So full_on you are kinda right in saying that trance music is just music, and the spirituality that we experience is from personal situations, when sharing that same feeling with many other ppl, regardless how different the memories are, makes it a spiritual feeling united.

My 2c, heheheh           :: Life can be as bitter as dragon tears
But whether dragon tears are bitter or sweet
depends entirely on how each man perceives the taste ::

Dear Full-on if you think that Trance music is just another kind of music then good luck to you, as for me i choose to beleive that trance music is a link to another place, yes it stimulates unexplored parts of our thoughts and is so deep and so spiritual that when you are in a party and the music is really good you do not even talk you just listen and enter into meditation through the music mode! In this mode your body does not count anymore it is just there dancing full on to the repetitive rythms and sweet melodies...Come on man you mean to tell me that you never heard of Dancing shiva or even the SUFI religion were they use repetitive beats and dancing to enter into a meditation mode were body does not count anymore. Haven't you read anything on this subject if not give it a go man it's really interesting! And another thing man spirituality is inside every single soul some people choose to hide it and some people choose to love it! Like Ego some people choose to live with it and some people fight it! It's all a choice in life you either wake up in the morning and choose to be happy or you wake up in the morning and choose to be unhappy...I respect every opinion and i am just stating mine...

Boom boom

Im nor a believer of gods or a spiritual person who believes in some "higher powers" governing the events of our lives. But on the other hand i do believe in the power of music and the immense feelings it can produce, and that those feelings can make ourselves more aware of who we really are as individuals.

Music has had such a great impact on me as a person that it has inevitably formed my personality and given me an identity of my own. In fact, i propably wouldnt be alive today if it werent for music.

For _me_, music has nothing to do with spirituality. I think its more the way people choose to interpret the music and the sensations they feel during the emotional "rushes" they get from music that could be of spiritual value. Then again, its up to everyone to decide for themselves what to believe in and which path to choose in life. Whether it may be religious, spiritual or something else. In the end it all comes down to one thing. To know yourself and your place in the world.
