with one track it s minimal..but when you record 10 that play at same time you ear converters colors..and their some card like fireface 800 sound bad vs a pro converter.

the more track the more it make difference so for electronic producer its a luxury...

cause you think for your needs.. but for a pro why one would buy a 3000 euros compressor than sound just 10% better than a plugin at compressing 1DB , it make no sense with not top notch convertion

it s all the small % pourcent you win with stuff like that help make the difference and get the best result possible

from what i noticed it seems than except metric halo, usb and firewire card tends to not perform as well as pci or external converters, also cards with preamps/converters input combo seems to not have as clean convertion.

Bull. Shit. And even if was true, who would want an extra cross-over network in their cables? That can only degrade the sound. :/

everyone heard that his sound definitelly was more brilliant then others before....

He just turned the high EQ knob up on the DJ mixer.

Nothing really beats the stability of an RME system and that goes on all platforms!!!

Production wise i still use my over 10 years old multiface/pci solution. It has been nothing but stable and kind to me and enabled me to make music without having to dick around with tweaking out a decently performing system.

Come April it will see itself replaced by an Antelope Orion which is a massive update. I use a Lynx Hilo already for D/A and mastering chain stuff, so i know from experience how well a converter can sound.

Honestly though who gives a s##&? Sure you can get better converters than RME but buying a sound card is about getting the most for the least. Thatīs where they shine IMO.

Making this sort of music is nothing more than a hobby and will remain so for many people. RME is the best "mid range" stuff out there, when all factors are weighed in, and no wonder it appeals.

After having used those "sterile and tinny" converters for years to make music i canīt say my sound has improved much due to new conversion.
Getting a pair of Dunlavy speakers made a huge difference compared.

I am mainly buying the Orion because of itīs features (32i/o on USB?!?) and secondly because of the clock stability/conversion it offers.

Get RME and be happy about it. Know that there are other vendors that offer much superior conversion/clocking (and much higher price tags), but will it make your music better in the end? This thread has become a bit of a gear pissing contest instead of helping the OP out.           Mastering available here:
