i said it was obvious this festival wouldn't go right because
1 - it was very close to an already established and well-known festival that a lot of people are going
2 - portuguese people don't have money like in france or england so it would be very hard to go to both festivals, so guess which one most people chose?
3 - the way the flyer was printed.. not very professional
4 - 2 days before the festival and the stage wasn't set up?
i could go on and on about reasons this would go bad
i didn't say anything about the vibe and i never imagined all that police drama, but i think it was pretty obvious this wasn't going to be what they promised

i think we were one of the few artists who actually played at this festival!
cant say it was a pro pne...too much problems!
just before we leave at sunday morning, a few big security guys grab us and tryed to take all our money and stuff, eventually we manage to take our money back, but i could not find my camera since..
we left before the big mess... i guess we were lucky eventually!
the crew from belgium & greece that were there please contact me if you can!

From the beguinning that it was no organization!
..at all!!!
1 - the stolen image to make flyers to promove shamanik
2 - Announced djs and lives who were not confirmed by themselves.
3 - No flight payment to many artists
4 - Nobody to answer to an email or a phone call
5 - JP imploring in shamanik website to people buy tickets so they can start with the festival
6 - Own staff stealing vans and money
7 - No bus at airport like promissed
8 - Party started with no decoration
9 - Security staff kidnap jp to stole the money
10 - Party ended at the second day just like i said few days ago

Shame , it´s a shame for us portuguese , everybody thinks that can organize one festival , so stupid , thats why this parties and festivals are getting worst day by day , i think it´s time to think about it , quantity doens´t mean quality .
it takes a lot of work ,responsability and experience to make such a big festival.
at this point it´s really shamefull to be portuguese due to this stupid fuckers.
unfortunantly we have this cases every summer , and it seams that the people doens´t lear the lesson.
thank god we have the BOOM next year , wich is made by people who we can trust.

hello, we are back in lisboa at last
the festival: a complete mess, but many rumours are fake...
the security ppl were from french ghettos, and started a riot, stole the money, and took control of the festival...
They were in nexts rooms of us and even tried to enter to maybe take equipment, finally not thanks god hehe
'festival' ? it was more like a big party...
i'm here with other greek artists of the dark stage, and some russian/belgian/japanese friends, and generally we were left off in avis, and not taken care of, and of course, not even paid. We still decided to play the 2nd day at the remaining dark stage for the ppl who stayed...
complete mess, no organisation at all, a disaster ...
jp was kidnapped yes, and very unlucky but again he is an irresponsible guy...
anyway enough of this crap, we are all really tired...

Anyway, i want to say a big thanks to belgian friends and Nelson MDS+his wife coz if they were not here to help us i don't know how all this could have ended for us...
on the bracelets of the fest, the next edition is for 12-16.08.2009. >>> at least a good JOKE for ending hahahah

Very sad to read about all this mess but what else could you expect from a festival that seemed so unorganised since it was announced,i am preety sure that JP tried for his best but it would be better for him to cancel everything when he realised he was alone and that he couldnt fund such an event.
From the moment someone said in this forum that he send an email to the organisers and asked to help working on the festival and the organisers said to him that he was welcome to do so as long as he paid his own ticket in advance which he would be refunded in the end from that single moment i knew (and everyone else should understand) that this festival had huge problems and would be a flop.
Unfortunately many people bought tickets relying on the good words of people who got booked to play there (some of them have 6-7 posts around this thread trying to promote it desperately and couple of these people didnt even played there in the end) and in the end they lost not only their money but also their time.
So please dear artists and djs next time you get booked to play somewhere just drop a good luck message on the various forums and dont bust our balls about amazing and well organised festivals just to lick the people who booked you to play there.
The people are not stupid and know if a festival will be good or not.
And the people knew from the first place that this event would be a flop.

Mmm.....this all makes me soooo damn happy I trusted my gut feeling, which was allready setting off the alarm months ago when I never got my contract back or ANY reply at all to the signed Shamanik contract....good tip for all out there in cases like this, trust the signs and omens in life, they come for a reason !
For the rest, I guess most rumors must or possibly have started 'cause of people not really knowing what was real or not real anymore and mixing up realities, thx to certain substances they took.....

it started like this ...we arrived to portugal finaly and no one was waiting for us in the airport.. well its heppen somtimes in the trance scene .. we make some phone calls and our ride was arrived after 1:30 hours..anyway we was optimic .. we arrived to the place of the party .. was very nice place .. we met jp he said they sale like 2000 tickets .. we were more optimic hehe he take us to place to sleep .. nice house we were like 9 israeli artists anyway, the time was 6 in the morning we are hearing some noises and waking up .. looking for 9 huge black guys (the security guys) in our room (they broke the window) and looking for money we was kinda shocked and dizzy they stole to 2 artists their cellphones .. but didnt find anymoney because we didnt got paid , anyway .. jp was "kindanpt" and didnt payed the rest .. they didnt take care for the food .. it was a shame and a big mess ..BUT finaly im at home ... in one peace

once i dont understand french, can any of u translate this....
ATTENTION Démentie officiel sur ce qui s'est passé au Shamanik :
Le Shamanik festival s'est fait braqué par la sécurité aux yeux de tout le monde ouvertement sans que personne ne puisse bougé
et la police n'a pas voulu intervenir car elle était en sous effectif ce jour là à la veille du 15 aout bien qu'elle est été prévenue par les témoins de la situation
La sécurtié a pris le control des points stratégique et m'a menacé et séquestré , battu si je ne donnais pas l'argent Elle voulait délibérément faire un braquage.
Elle a détourné des entrées à 50 euro et donc je me suis retrouvé sans argent à l'entrée et donc dans l'incapacité de payer les gens , fournisseurs, staffs
Occupé à courir partout pour réparer ou trouver des solutions pour ne pas que le festival s'arrete
Je n'ai pas eu la liberté de mes faits et geste car j'étais sous la menace et la séquestration
Emmené dans un bois ou j'ai été battu à coté de chez moi, j'ai réussi à échaper à la mort en retournant au festival à Avis Arrivé sur place à la station d'essence à 18h30, la police m'a vu et est tout de suite venu me chercher suite à une amie qui avait donné l'alerte sur ma disparition depuis 8h du matin
Désolé pour cette tragédie ou nous avons été tous victimes sans pouvoir rien faire

Une plainte est déposé à présent pour tous ces faits graves.
Je demande à tous de garder ses esprits en attendnat qu'on trouve une solution pour indemniser tout le monde victime de vol, prestation impayées, dj et personnel du shamanik agréssé afin de récupéré tout l'argent qui avait servi à payer les premieres choses importantes.
Je suis traumatisé dans cette affaire et me retrouve sans rien ni meme mes papiers, passport, carte grise et clés de mes véhicules volés, carte bleue,etc...
Beaucoup de personnes on leur vie brisée et je tiens à étre solidaire et à m'engager à trouver les solutions au plus vite pour la réparation de ces faits qui relève de faits divers graves incontrolable et qui aurait pu arriver à n'importe quel festival.Je n'ai jamais douté de ma sécurité mais en fait elle cachait bien son jeu jusqu'au bout".

The festival gor rubed by the security in front of everybody. No one did any thing against that. The police didn't react althow told about that because on this day (August 15th)they didn't have enough officers available.
The security took control of all strategic points of the festival, they kidnaped me and beat me up if I wouldn't give them the money. They clearly wanted to do a hold up.
They took all the entry money so I didn't have anymore money at the entry... so couldn't pay anybody anymore.
(then he says something weird... like at the same time he says he was busy running everywere to find new money to continue the festival, but at the same time says that he wasn't able to move as he was held hostage...???)
I have been brought to the woods near my house and beaten up, I could escape from death by returning to the festival, once near the local fuel station the police saw me at 18h30 and came to see me as they had been told by my friends about the kidnapping.
Sorry for this tragedy... we have been victims and couldn't do anything against it.
All those that got stolen or beaten please send me your file so that my lawyer can gather all this and sue the security firm and its chef. A case has been opened.
I ask to everybody to keep there head cool untill we find a solution to compensate everyone.
I am depressed with all this problems and now find myself without any ID paper, driving licence, credit card... and the key of my car has been stolen.
Many people got there lives broken with this festival, I want to be with them and will find solutions as soon as possible to repair these traumas.
The facts that happend there could have happened to any festival, I have never doubted of the loyalty of this security firm but they were hidding there game untill the end."

I am not sure which one is better... the French Shamanik one or the Uk Antiworld one... Hollywood should come on these forums to look for its new superproductions...

Incredible stuff!
I guess nobody could imagine these turn of events even in their worst expectations of the festival.
At least no one has yet confirmed the dead security thing..
I hope these happenings don't have repercussions for the trance scene in general, and the portuguese in specific, but i think they will.

this is the most f***kd up thing i've ever heard of... I though freaky was bad... having flown their only to realise after i arrived that it had been cancelled... because they didn't have a license? is that true because i cant understand how - if they did have a licence last year and this year it was supposed to be bigger - they forgot to get the license..???? common.. that cannot be true!? it sounds like somethign very dodgy going on to me..
now with this trouble at shamanik too its really making me wonder... never heard of 2 festivals both being shut down at same time... one by private security and the othe r by police? is it a co-incidence???

what happened in shamanick is a real shame... the fact that some people think they can "organise" a festival easily is unfortunately getting more general (a reason why I don't go to parties in France anymore...except with the few professional party organisers who are hopefuly still on the french scene). The fact that the security guys tried to rob party ppl already happened in some parties in France because of the lack of seriousness from the organisers. too bad this happened once more...
