On the drug subject.. how many haven't listened to psy from having at somepoint been into their drugs be they hallucinatroy or "party".
To belittle those that do is hypocritical in the main.
iF YOU personally choose not to use drugs thats a good stance..but no-one is pushing them upon you..it is a choice ..the same as he who chooses to take drugs also has a choice.
Responsibility for your own actions is the key, I am 37 now(two weks time). I gave up drugs for ten years, & now use them recreationally for parties. I don't smoke weed, & I don't drink... does this make me a bad person?? .personally I would say not.
I work long hours five days a week & if I CHOOSE to find a bit of "escapism" on the occassional weekend..so be it. |

yes I prefer the older tracks but I laso enjoy the news.

On the contrary. It is very pro drug discussion (and any other discussion done respectfully), we just don't want it done here- there are places devoted to these discussions (some links in the main page, under drugs).

Raja Ram lost the "guru" glamour he had. Most people would listen carefully to his set because he sometimes would show the crowd new fresh good sounds. This Stash Bag 3 is aimed to the younger generation who knows psy from 2002 on.
I don't doubt his next Stash Bag we will see more popular tracks. Popular, but bad composed, cheesy, as this 3rd Edition was.
I agree completely with Brett: he tried to please to a very specific crowd. And with Traveller as well: don't buy it.

nevertheless the man is outstanding performer..
I atleast enjoyed his dj set quite much, not because of the music or the mixing, but his gestures and coolness

So, artists need to find out the balance between what they want to express and what the audience wanna take...
There are something still make me surprise in his latest mix CD.
Please don't waste your money if you don't like it.

Even though this is a discussion forum, I think we need to realise the negativity in slagging someone off behind their back. Afterall this isn't just any old 'someone' - it's one of the greatest magicians of this psychedelic scene.
I couldn't give a monkey's if his mixing skills aren't perfect, or his latest releases aren't to my taste, all I know is that he has given us all sooooo much over the last ten years, let's hope that he'll still be entertaining us all in the next.

He is a great showman, always jumping around and quite a talented dancer. Cut the guy some slack, he plays the flute wonderfully; with out the flute Shpongle would be a completely different band.
I think we should all be a little more constructive with our criticism.

I think its great that people can get together and wallow in their negativity. It is threads like this that make the psy-trance scene as great as it is.
People like Raja Ram are good targets for the criticism of people who sit behind their computers complaining about everything all day every day.
I mean, ok - he may have been responsible for one of the first and most innovative psy labels in the world, had a hand in many superb muical releases and contibuted more over the last 15 or 20 years than most of you put together, but I think it is important to start a thread trashing his entire life's work every time he releases a record which is not to my particular taste.
Well done everybody. You make the psy-scene what it is. |
