I think its great that people can get together and wallow in their negativity. It is threads like this that make the psy-trance scene as great as it is.

I mean, ok - he may have been responsible for one of the first and most innovative psy labels in the world, had a hand in many superb muical releases and contibuted more over the last 15 or 20 years than most of you put together, but I think it is important to start a thread trashing his entire life's work every time he releases a record which is not to my particular taste.

I sort of agree with you Ott, but I don't think people here are trashing his entire life's work... They are just wondering why a guy who made some of their all time favourites, suddenly has started releasing the stashbag 3 etc...
I really respect the guy, and I think most people do (at least those who knows which masterpieces this guy has been involved in...), but I think it is fear to ask a question about his new directions... I will probably ask you the same question Ott, if you suddenly start releasing Tiesto dance...  Why!? Why!?

i think you need to cut Raja some slack.
There is no way he is making as much money as he did in 1996 or so.
The guy could be broke for all we know and hes a bit old to start over with doing something else at this point.
Let the guy make some easy cash, hes certainly earned it. |

I don't say that he's the most talented producer,I don't even think that he has producing skills,I don't think that he's the world's greatest DJ,but he owns TIP,he spins around the globe and He is 60 FYO.leave the man alone,he worked really hard to earn the status he has and In my opinion he deserves it to the last bitt.

I don't mind you asking...
It's the bitching in general! I mean, why bitch at all??? About anyone? It's really ugly. And completely unecessary when offering an opinion of somebody's music. So many of the posts on here have fuck all to do with the music.
I also don't think you have to idolise Raja to recognise that his influence has been far reaching in psytrance culture. He didn't get that far because he's shit at what he does. I absolutely adore the Shpongle albums for sure, but actually the vast majority of Raja's musical output does nothing for me at all. However he has my admiration and respect for being a pioneer within our genre, and a gifted musician.
This whole personal attack thing that goes on so much (not just re. Raja) seems to be in complete contrast with the ethos of psy as I understand it; that of bringing like-minded people together through a mutual passion for music and dance. And that's what makes me feel really sad.
