In my opinion, and this concerns the older ones, the scene has made a loop of itself, and is now back to the underground. While this should be ok, meaning that being underground again more experimentation, new ideas and freedom to express them is available, this is not the case.
And this is true for many reasons. First of all, lame organisation and crap music being projected as what's "in". I cannot accept that quality trance is not out there right now. I have listened to many new releases, and I have found so many really good tracks, psychedelic as never before. None of them get a chance by any Dj, local or not, in the parties taking place in Athens, at least.
The shitholes we are forced to get into, and pay a 20 euro fee, really pale to comparison with older venues, such as alsos,battery,nr6,amnesia,loft,+soda etc. Plus, it really is more expensive all the way, from tickets to the drinks. Those who say about drugs are also right, but they forget that it is actually cheaper to be on drugs than buy some drinks from the bar. (I may sound provocative here, but , sometimes, it's even healthier too, considering the fuel petrol that is supposedly whiskey or vodka). I don't say take drugs, by any means. I'm just saying that many people find it a refuge, now even for the money.
The technoish evolution of psy trance, has resulted in a massive withdrawal of people. People in Greece, pretty much like israelites, went to parties for the melodic music, which in many ways resembled their culture, even in a different way. I am not talking about uplifting, which is tottally another case. I am talking about the melodically structured, themed if you like, psy trance music we grew up with. Now it's chaotic full-on, and it's really really tough to remember some tunes. Yeah, that's right...what tunes?
And finally, there seems to be no concept on what's being done. Download some mp3's, quickly sort out some "pumpers", burn them up and off to the party. Maybe hang up some whatever fluo paintings, and who knows, maybe we'll have a nice time. Oh yeah, and maybe throw a projector, which could play back some graphics that guy gave me last night. Some years ago, a party was being planned with some clues on when we're getting at. An aesthetic addon which was part of what was taking place, not a poor excuse to make thing look "goa"...
Well, that's what i think. Festivals seem to be the only place where we can have a good party as we know it is. In the city, things are not like what they used to be. And chances are, it won't be in the future either, so happy summertime everyone!

otherreality with all do respect bro

but music changes with time, there is like 2-3 tipes of psytrance - dark - full on
melodic - plus u cannot blame the artists
any way when all the big names started ure feeling about this music was difrent
so mabe this is why u understould, the vibes then....

now about parties ul see worst things i bet in 3-4 years the fee will be 40 to 50 euros
and this si common when clubs ask 5000 to 10.000 euro for 1 saturday ,and i mean clubs not ,300 clubs with no sound or aircondition in side.
plus its exacly as mike said halussinogen wants 10.000 euro to play here and in uk he playes for 2000.
so here to pay 5000 or 7000 for the club
10.000 to bring him plus flyer posters ,flights hotel ,food ,all will get a bugget of 25.000 in the end
tell me with this if u put 40 euro who is to blame ,always the orginizers like always,
6 yeras ago i payed 5 thousand draxmas to go to parties or 4 thousand depents ,and if u remeber no drink in most parties then. u have to pay extra to get drink in some parties.
so what is doing on today id people getting in trance and having no idea how things work and just siyng what they feel like to show smarter people they like, and older people
nowing the past and trtying to copair with something that fninished after 2002-3 and started new smaller parties new ideas ,new music ,so either old people stop going like most ,and leave this sceene ,or just respect what we have today , and there are no lame orginizers ,there lame fees which its not that they cannot be covered its why cover them ,to lose so much. its always 50% risk to do party..iv lost loads of money in parties, and i still like to make, but this has to do with the sicknees i have for the music, nothing else.......

hey guys i don't wanna argue with anyone here but i read something that it's really concerning me as an old trancer.....X-Dream is my favourite group so i don't want to read false things...Who told you that X-Dream play psychedelic trance?...X-Dream means CREATION of MUSIC....and my evidence is here:
they started in 1989 playing HARD TRANCE
they got into trance in 1993 and they released ''Trip to Trancesylvania'' which is NOT psy trance for God sake!!...It's pure euphoric trance....Their 2nd album ''Our Own Happiness'' ,YES, it was psychedelic trance.....Their 3rd album ''Radio'' was the FIRST psychedelic techno trance album....The album ''Panic In Paradise'' is NOT a real album but an album that contains tracks that were either released in vinyl or compilations....The huge success of Radio made X-Dream to give more time in the techno field....Later,with the ''Irritant'' album they simply created the ultimate techno trance album in the likes of Chris Liebing or Roland Casper....Their last album ''We Interface'' introduced us into a vocal-industrial-techno-trance style....Of course with different names they had and have released ambient music and electronica.....Why i say all this?...to tell you that for the good artists who respect themselves and the audience they should not have certain music style...For them, music is a road that has a start but never ends ...It exlpores different kinds of music..And that makes them PIONEERS!!...

Mate you said it all.I agree with you 1000%
X-DREAM and actually the guys behind them they were just pioneers in sound. And always their path was technoish.Simply now they completed their path and finaly show us what is X Dream about.Pure expirimental electro-techno-trance music with cold vocals from the wife of Jan Muller.
As for parties I think I told enough.
