Well it sure doesn't look like that if you looked at the videos. The use of force isn't unprovoced that's for sure. Even the figures speak for this: 45 police officers (out of a thousand) injured while only 35 festival people (out of thousands and thousands). Besides had the people followed the law like when the police tried to block their way to the festival. They would not have been there in the first place. They were already breaking the law and not respecting authority just cos they were there..

Dear traveller, of course you are allowed to watch whatever your heart wants....but this doesn't mean you can have a reliable opinion.
I give you a simple example....watching the war in Iraq from Cnn (or whatever media you want) somebody can believe that the US goverment is saving the Iraqi people...but as we ALL know...this is not TRUE ! Same thing can be for this festival as well...
If you don't have first hand experience, then, is better to no take any kind of position for the simple fact you don't KNOW !
That's all......
please, don't take this as a negative post....
best regards

Well first I read here that the cops weren't wearing ID tags. Turned up to be a FAT lie

http://www.techno.cz/party/report/2005/0730czechtek_t-rex/czechtek05.b%20171.jpg
So how much is true in the very first post of this thread?
I've read from various sources that around 80 "bad" injueries were treated and out of them 45 were police officers.
You can also watch this clip for example and see if it's the public or the police who is violent http://xtramsn.co.nz/news/0,,11965-4620729-300,00.html
I'd say I can form fairly correct picture of what happened.
1. Police said party can't go on. Did they have the right to do so, I don't know.
2. People were pissed off and were not going to leave anywhere and some started acting all violent
3. Police raided the party and used force as they saw was necessary.
It's not rubbish.. it's there for everyone to see
..like they say in finnish:
Joukossa tyhmyys tiivistyy
goes something like:
In crowd stupidity gets more packed
Everyone is yelling "WRONG" and they don't even bother checking if it's a bit biased information that they're getting or not..

Dear Traveller, witch is the source of your information?
I would like to invite you to rethink your info sources...
I don't say that what you say over here is not correct or something, but as far I am concerned, I was not there so my point of view will not be reliable!

I tend to trust Reuters and the Finnish media quite much. Then again all the pics are from .cz techno sites so they have a good reason to be biased yet they prove my point too.. so
Look I think this truly sucks donkey cock and suspect that the party was ended with false grounds. However I'm not buying the police brutality part.. as in "they kicked and beated up everyone w/out any reason.. etc etc "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

It is easy to speak in the distance when none of the happenings has affected you.
I just want to say, that whatever the reasons that made Police take action, it could have been done in another way, without having to beat up partygoers. Police action has to match the nature of the "crime". This is not like people protesting against globalization and smashing all in their passage: windows and cars that belong to other people who have nothing to do with what they are protesting (this is just to make a comparison and say to shamanizer that Police intervention in the G8 summit in Italy was justifiable from the moment that protesters started to destroy the propertie of local people who have nothing to do with the G8).
Where I live we can have many flaws, but at least peacefull gatherings like festivals and parties, if they are done with the required licences, are not targets for the Police, who has much more serious things to worry about. Take Boom for example, done with the support of Idanha-a-Nova municipal authorities, with the on site presence of the local firebrigade, with ambulances and a firetruck to extinguish the heat consuming many festival attenders.
These happenings, and others like Samothraki in 2003 are a real shame to local authorities, and make me think twice about attending festivals like these in some countries. |

new prime minister of czech republic is "proud that the state was able to stop these wild events called techno party". he says that "people who attend these events are dangerous and are connected to international anarchy".
thats from the russian news and this opinion certainly comes from a narrow-minded person who happens to be one of the governers of the country....
