Kristian is quite right here.

Maybe someone from the Czech Republic can get us some addresses / emails of the relevant goverment offices and so people here can write over and say what kind of image we got from the Czech Republic after seeing this and that we probably would not come to visit a place when people who just want to dance and enjoy music are treated like that, and let them know that they have just alienated themselves from all young people.

I will be also good to get more facts- I'll be happy to write something that all can use as a basis for a letter.

It was on Greek news also this evening.

Sad pictures indeed but something smells really fishy on this story,i cant believe that all these police forces attacked this festival just because someone didnt get bribed neither i will accept statements that local people were taken to the police station to sign complaints about this event if someone doesnt prove me that this thing actually happened, you see i am not someone who just believes what other people say to him.

I guess that in the next days more things will come up and we shall get a better idea of what happened there.

In any case the violence was unacceptable and these images are sad and embarassing for our world.

Hope that the people responsible for these incidents will pay for them either these people are from the police side or the organisers side.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

sounds realy like corruption. and HANDA, no one did the "job" there. if you are a policemen, you have the order to protect human rights, nothing else. and if you attack human rights as a policeman you have the same responsibility as the the politican or the corrupt policeboss. something went wrong there. maybe the organizer didnt payed enough black-cash to the police, maybe the mafia didnt payed enough cash to sell drugs there. dont know...
but you can be sure that a man armed with a stick (which is a very very brutal and deadly weapon, if you know how to use it, and the police knows for sure) who is not in danger and attacks people with weapons (gas, sticks, water) has just fun with it.
it all sounds like a rush of unserious policecrowds who have fun to put people in pain.
because:
1. throughing gas-grenades into a car. realy not neccessary! can cause blindness and shows the sadistic way of fighting.

2. hitting people (women) with sticks, who dont want to fight. pure sadistic brutality. did you had fun sick policemen? did you felt strong finally? felt strong for the first time of your ugly life?

3. throughing water into dancefloor.
without warning, without danger they knocked the floor down with the waterblast while surrounding them. this is called torture, and something is written about it in the genfer convention.

4. throughing explosives into the dancefloor.
random attack into a mass, can cause strong hurt, just makes panic higher, and not slowing down. a 100% indicator that the police WANT TO HURT.

5. death of human.
if the police is making a rush. they have the responisibilty about the human lifes. to control panics and to make the job clear and coordinated. no: they just made a funny weekend with hurting people and mabye some had fun to see someone dying.

my consequence: i will never go this country.

Its not the first time police somewhere in Europe overreacted in such manner, remember G8 in Italy. Police raided and beated up tens of sleeping demonstrators. This was also reported by human rights organisations and was reported also on governmental level.
But why like this in a party where the intention was to enjoy?? Even if there was land dispute or anything else there is no way to justify this kind of behaviour. Fascists.

OK, let's see if we are all just talk or we gonna actually do something. Here are some contacts. If you really care, and you should, because it is no coincidence that governments all over the world crack down so hard on us dancing people. And this has happened to some extent in many places and will happen again, then sit down and write a protest.

I remind all you Europeans that the Czech Republic is now a member of the European union and you should write also to the European Union- maybe someone can help with some addresses.

I will post my letter here once I write it (we all should), but I think the main point should be that no matter what are the circumstances it is completely unacceptable to see armies march in brutality against happy dancing people.

OK, here's my letter- just emailed it to these addresses and gonna send it in snail mail as well.

Dear sir,
I was shocked to read and see on TV the incident in which Czech police forces raided a dance festival on Saturday July 30th near the village of Mlynec in southwestern Czech Republic.

Pictures showing marching armies using tear gas, water cannon, stun grenades and batons on young happy people who have come to dance in nature and do harm to no one reminded me of dark times in history and dark scenes in futuristic apocalyptic science fiction movies.

I couldn't believe my eyes, especially when the pictures were coming from a country that has suffered so much oppression in the past, has such good reputation as a pleasant place, and has just joined the European Union.

We young people today love to dance outdoors to music that might sound weird to you- we mean no harm- on the contrary- others can learn a lot from us on the atmosphere and good will that can exist between people.

I am not familiar with the circumstances, but the pictures speak for themselves- no matter what, it is completely unacceptable to see armies march in brutality against happy dancing people.

Until I am convinced that this was a one time mistake and that the people in charge are punished and the matter is acknowledged by the Czech government publicly, I will refrain from visiting the Czech Republic.

Thank you,           ---------------------------------------------

do as you wish- I also recommend sending a copy to the Czech embassy in your country and posting this initiative in any other online community you're part of.           ---------------------------------------------

kemic-al and shahar - thank you for bringing up awareness to this. yesterday i posted this information in some russian forums.

even if there was a legal dispute or some kind of problem in this festival - there is no reason for such an outrageous brutality happening in EU and anywhere else.

one time i was in a open air party in bombey and it was raided by police. policemen were all definetely drunk or somekind of high, they were really brutal, beating people with sticks and one of them dragged me down to the ground by my hair and kicked me. i tried to complain but nobody listen or even tried to threaten me even more. this is india.

in russia police raids happen often, sometimes they happen because of promoter wars, sometimes narcotics departmennt needs to make a plan to submit to the state, sometimes they want money before new year to make good holiday for themselfes.
always these raids are brutal and policemen act really rude. they spray tea gas, they plant hard narcotics like heroine in people's pockets, they command to lie down and if you mention something about rights, they laugh into your face, ignore or make rude comments. this is russia.

and what about EU where billions of euro are spent to develop democratic values and human rights awareness? few days ago i read on the news that traces of cocaine were found in toilets of EU parliement.

this is a world of double standards, we live here and maybe we can try to change something about it...
