I think this is the most important issue in this whole story:
"In contrast to the organizers of the event, who leased the property in good faith as a result of last year’s problems, thereby demonstrating their desire to meet the legal requirements, the police decided to place themselves above the law for reasons which are neither understandable nor acceptable. Under the rule of law the police may not presume that participants of a private event are going to behave illegally. "

Whatelse to say?

This story is a proof of the incompetence of the police unable to resolve their job in a civilaised way.
Also is funny to see so many ppl saying that the cops where only doing their jobs, forgetting the violence that they created.
There are too much closed minded persons that should think how is to be in those ppl place living that moment and being beaten by someone doing their job.

If lawsuits and other legal action within the Czech Republic fails would taking the matter before an appropriate council at with the EU or the UN be an option? Not that they would actually DO anything about this in particular but maybe the more liberal countries in the EU could at least make some official statement condemning such action. Maybe Ravers could claim minority status and say their rights had been violated! lol

Well due to some heavy moderation I'm not able to answer your post, however there are about a million more severere/important wrongs in the world at the very moment than some festival that was cancelled. I don't see people here getting angry about that..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

exactly. I think more than one million dead children a year in Africa is way more upsetting than this. where's people's protests about that?
As I have said so many times in this debate. Dont just look at things from the party goers point of view. Our scene is certantly not some innocent scene with all snow white people (unless they snorted a bit too much). Our scene promote drugs like no other scene does. We are quite selfish and stubborn when it come to "our rights" and we certantly do NOT always have things organised = amatures.

Maybe thats why the Authorities hit down on us so hard at times

speculating over children in africa is not such a bright example. in this topic we are discussing the situation that happened at CzechTec. if to start to speak about all other world troubles, then we might call it something else. i am sure that we all here realize that this is one world and that troubles happen in this one world.

I think it's less bright to be so black & white in your views as you've been throughout this whole debate. It's indeed double standard to sit there and whine because some unorganised squatters decided to do a festival and happened to get a rought threatment from the Police.. And again I doubt it was unprovoked.
No the Police did not do a good job and could have done things different but seriously I think there's way more serious break on Human rights in the world that need our attention than a group of quite spoled kids that whine when they cant take their drugs on a field in some country.
And as I have said.. Instead of whine do something about it in your own country. It's the only way to change things on a worldwide scale. But make sure you also change the attitude of those that are going to the parties. They need to change too if anything are going to change.

i have red here in the forum that people were getting replies from officials. i sent letters also, but with no feedback so far.

Maybe I got feedback because I wrote my own letter instead of just copying a letter posted here (no offense). I think a personal non biased letter do more good and make the people in question think a little, than one similar letter that all send. Of course it has to be to the point and question the action of the Police. But if you send a Black & white letter that only condemn the police i doubt you'll get any answer. Just my opinion.

handa .....
I cannot restrain myself from writing. We in Macedonia have also parties and you are right, there are a lot of people who promote drugs at that kind of parties and also festivals, buuuuuut we have also a counter-measure for that, which are people (it's better to refer as agents) who are in civil clothing (not with full riot gear!!! ) and they are all over the place checking suspicious persons whom they think they posses drugs. If they catch someone then they take him to the police station and continue their work on the place. So no beating, no violence just a litlle bit of stress when they are checking someone for drugs. I guess that is what the other people are trying to explain you.

Fuck the police. My god, it's something I would have expected out of USA perhaps, but not in Europe! It's the legal systems' own fault no one bothers to follow laws or respect the system. Why respect unneccessary cruelty? Some trigger-happy "protectors" of citizens? Again, fuck the police. And not in a way they'd enjoy.

It also reminds me of the last Athens TranceAlliance party, where the police busted in. A girl was upset and they pucnched her in the face, then through her down in the crowd. Minor, compared to this of course, but still completely unneccessary
