I have started this topic because i felt it was really necessary for all the people on this forum to know about this incident. The reason for starting it here agin in the India section was because i thought many of us would be Restricting our selves just to the India section and might not come across this post.
http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/68128/forum/1

After going through this section i personally felt we here could do something about it by just sending 1 e-mail to the The Embassy of the Czech Republic in India raising our concerns.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in NewDelhi, 50-M Niti Marg, Chanakyapuri, 110 021 New Delhi, INDIA
Tel.: +91-11-26110205, 26110318, 26110382
Fax: +91-11-26886221
e-mail.: newdelhi@embassy.mzv.cz
i am also pasting a copy of the letter i am mailing..those who wish can copy the same and send them too on the above mentioned e-mail.
thanks

copy of letter

Dear sir,
I was shocked to read and see on TV the incident in which Czech police forces raided a dance festival on Saturday July 30th near the village of Mlynec in southwestern Czech Republic.

Pictures showing marching armies using tear gas, water cannon, stun grenades and batons on young happy people who have come to dance in nature and do harm to no one reminded me of dark times in history and dark scenes in futuristic apocalyptic science fiction movies.

I couldn't believe my eyes, especially when the pictures were coming from a country that has suffered so much oppression in the past, has such good reputation as a pleasant place, and has just joined the European Union.

We young people today love to dance outdoors to music that might sound weird to you- we mean no harm- on the contrary- others can learn a lot from us on the atmosphere and good will that can exist between people.

I am not familiar with the circumstances, but the pictures speak for themselves- no matter what, it is completely unacceptable to see armies march in brutality against happy dancing people.

Until I am convinced that this was a one time mistake and that the people in charge are punished and the matter is acknowledged by the Czech government publicly, I will refrain from visiting the Czech Republic.

Thank you,

P.S : if the mods think this post was not necessary pls delte this.

People with dreads...rasta like guys are molested first, everywhere in Europe. I see that as racism or in a smaller take- prejudice. That is as bad as any stereotype because we know what cops think...people with dreads MUST posses lots and lots of weed or drugs which is such bullshit because i know so many people like that who are straight edge.

Dear Sir:

Thank you for your letter. As you know, the whole issue is much more
complicated than what one letter can explain. Last year, the police was
critisized for not protecting the property rights and other freedoms of
people living in the village, where the same "CzechTek" party was organized.
This year, police tried to prevent thousands of people to violate the same
rights and it is critisized again. Complex problems such as this do not have
easy solutions.

With hope that you understand

Best regards

I don't really understand, actually, and I will reply to him soon.

I got the same response, here's my reply:

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your speedy reply. Indeed the issue is a complex one,
but either way I think it is clear that the Police acted with undue
force, and did not, as you say, carefully balance their approach to
reflect the concerns of the neighbouring residents.

If I am not mistaken the event takes place right next to a busy and
loud motorway, so noise pollution is at a high level anyhow. The
rubbish was cleared up after every event. If the residents wish to
complain, surely there are official and legal ways in place to push
their concerns through in a diplomatic and curteous way - one that
does not involve riot gear, tanks, tear gas and batons!

I will not be visiting the Republic for fear of the authorities
extreme violence against young people. A shame as I heard your country
is indeed a beautiful one.

I would like to urge you to investigate this matter to the fullest,
and to take action on whoever is to blame for this debacle.

Kind Regards,

---------------------------------

And here's another reply from UK minister John Bowis:

Dear Pavi,

Thank you for getting in touch with me. A number of constituents have raised this with me but before that I had not heard of the incident. As you say, it seems to have been wholly disproportionate action by the Czech police. I am pleased to see President Klaus has deplored the action and is calling for an investigation as to how this occurred.

I think we have to let the Czech Government take action, if, as seems to be the case, that is their intention. If they do not or their response is inadequate, then that is the time, I think for us to be raising the issue in the Parliament.

Best wishes

John Bowis

----------------------------

This one from an English Baroness is, as expected coming from a woman, more sympathetic:

Dear Pavi,

Thank you for your email about incidents of police violence taking place last week-end in Mlynec (Czech Republic) during an electronic dance music festival.

I am of course seriously concerned of any alleged police brutality as no circumstances in a democratic state justify such behaviour in breach of human rights, and the EU sets high standards.

Therefore I am putting a question to the European Commission in order to ask them to gather more information about the incidents, and if allegations of violence are borne out, to request the Czech Government to instigate a prompt and impartial investigation into all complaints of police brutality, with the appropriate punishments.

Yours Sincerely

Dr. Charles Tannock MEP meanwhile, is clearly more interested in pleasing his constituents rather than fighting for the cause - but at least he's putting pressure on the EU Czech Ambassador in this letter he sent to him:

HE Mr Jan Kohout Permanent Representative Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU 15 Rue Caroly 1050 Bruxelles – Ixelles Belgium

Dear Ambassador Kohout,

It has been brought to my attention by 3 of my London constituents, the controversial police action on the 30th of July in the village of Mlynec in the Czech Republic in the dispersal of a crowd, which included UK citizens, at the Czechtek music festival. These emails allege police brutality and overreaction with the inappropriate use of water cannon, tear gas and riot equipment resulting in one death and many injuries. I would be grateful if you could provide me with details of the outcome of the official inquiry from your Interior Ministry and reassure me that if the law enforcement authorities have broken Czech law they will be brought to justice. This will enable me to frame a reply to my constituents.

Yours sincerely
