Dear Handa,

What happened at CZECHTEK could happen to us tomorrow which means that it affects our life imediately, and if we dont secure our lives how can we go about providing security for the lives of african children?

We must do something about it, full stop.

Surrender, as much as I respect you and your great moderating - this is not a mother theresa issue that needs our pity, but an debacle of an event on our doorstep that hits all too close to home!

There were trance sound systems too at czechtech if that makes you it more important to you.

Just watch this clip of the festival and see if you can feel the tension in the air, and relate to the festival goers:
http://media.visions.cz/moire/3ka.mov

I have put on an international trance festival myself and although techno is not my favourite - I can relate all the way. Trance is nothing but psychedelic techno after all, and this affects the whole travelling/partygoing scene globally.

I urge you all to join the discussion, as technognome pointed out, at http://www.psy-forum.co.uk/psyforum_vb/showthread.php?t=32188 , though you do need to register. This thread is filled with great advice, email templates and the addresses to fire them off to if this touches your heart.

Apologies Surrender, I just noticed your remark was in reply to posts about Africa etc... so sorry, you obviously do accept this is an issue worth talking about.

Many sorrys muchly and deeply.

I just feel infuriated at the injustice!           Within this timeless gathering,
a shining light does dance,
lost from conscious memory,
but visible in trance!

We can't judge anyting without listening to second side which is Czech goverment, i think they had an issue to close the festival otherwise they wouldn't.

I think more answers you will get by asking Czech Rep. goverment source.

If it can happen to us? Yes it can, if you will abuse the rights goverment gives you. Czech Rep. isn't that kind country where totalitaric regime is common, Czech Rep. is one of most educated and intelligent countries in Europe so all questions to Czech's goverment.

I think you been watching to much of X-Files so you see hidden goverment's intrigues.

It is very sad, and I must say it was hard too even look at the pictures, you can see many people trying to figure out whats going on, why it so brutal and so on..

!Peace out to people who were there!

Very important topic, and remember it could have been you or me that stood there on the dancefloor...

Police violence can happen everywhere, and is very scary .. A enemy that is too strong (when in reality they should protect us!)... And if you look at the pictures you so many people scared and in panic maybe !? Who knows what you would do ??

We must fight the power, it is just as important as always .....            3o~ kriz aka krize 3o~ ....Horrordelic Records.... http://www.horrordelic.com

Here are a couple of replys I've received

Firrst from one of my area's Conservative (right-wing) euro member of parliament

Quote:
Dear Mr Xxx,

Thank you very much for bringing this incident to my attention. As the email is guided to me, I reply on behalf of my South West Conservatives colleagues Giles Chichester and Caroline Jackson.

I am appalled by the scenes described in the links provided in your email. I will take your email to Geoffrey Van Orden MEP and Charles Tannock MEP both of whom are experts on foreign affairs and human rights in the European Parliament. They are in a far better position than me to bring pressure to bear on the relevant authority in the Czech Republic and they will raise the issues of your email with expedience.

Yours sincerely,

Neil Parish MEP

Dear Mr Xxx,

Thank you for your e-mail in which you expressed your view about the police action taken in Mlynec on 30/31 July 2005.

The events in Mlynec have initiated a widespread debate among Czech politicians, media and the public. As the investigation of the circumstances in which the police action was taken is still ongoing, the Czech Embassy can make no official comment. However, careful consideration has been given to your remarks and your concern has been communicated to relevant authorities in the Czech Republic.

Yours sincerely,

We've got a reply from the office of the Czech President but it's in Czech so if anyone can translate it that would be wicked

well I have sent a couple of letters and got one reply from the uk Czech embassy, but I'm sure it's an automated reply.

Here's the response that I got from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

Quote:

Dear Sir:

Thank you for your letter. As you know, the whole issue is much more
complicated than what one letter can explain. Last year, the police was
critisized for not protecting the property rights and other freedoms of
people living in the village, where the same "CzechTek" party was organized.
This year, police tried to prevent thousands of people to violate the same
rights and it is critisized again. Complex problems such as this do not have
easy solutions.

With hope that you understand

Best regards

personally i have no sympathy for the retards that stuck around as in this video:
http://media.visions.cz/moire/8ka.mov

when that many cops show up in full riot gear the party is obviously OVER. If i had been there at that point i would have started cleaning up, got in my car to at least show i wasnt being a threat and left if possible.
Standing around in a huge group while getting in the cops face and giving the finger while other retards behind you throw shit at the cops is a sure way to get your teeth knocked in and arrested. I dont see how you have police brutality when there are far less cops than party people and MORE cops are injured than the partiers..
You can make a big deal about this to the government officials but your ultimately just adding fuel to the fire of having parties like these banned completely in the country.
Do you really think the government is going to want to put up with this much shit next year just to make a show of how much the country believes in the freedom to let thousands of young people gather, take drugs while listening to extremely loud music?
Maybe if you make a loud enough protest about what happened at this party you can get parties like this banned in all of europe, keep up the good work you fools.

How do you know more cops were injured than party people - you don't belive everything you read in the press do you? I suspect the police injures include grazes - if they are opperating a correct H&S policy all minor injuries wether caused by party people or their own ineptitude will have to be written down in an accident book. Whereas party people will probably not go to a hospital incase there are more psyco riot cops there waiting to beat them up again.

Non of the police were severely injured whereas 5 party people were. I think that gives you a truer picture of events.

I won't be going to the Czech republic until such time as all the perpetrators of this police brutality are punished to the full extent of the law. Neither will I be buying any of their produce.

Boycott Czech Republic !

Taking on the cops in full riot gear .. not smart
Not protesting LOUDLY against the type of behavior exhibited by the cops….plain stupid
This is why in the U.S. we have the Supreme Court ruling that local governments could seize people's homes and businesses against their will for private development why we have the Patriot Act which allows authorities to search your home and not tell you about it indefinitely, track your e-Mail and web usage without probable cause…etc, etc
If we lived in a perfect world, with no racism and no discrimination and no ignorance then maybe giving up some of our rights for the greater good wouldn’t be such a bad thing but until then PROTEST, make yourself heard and don’t bend over and grab your ankles when there is such blatant injustice and abuse
I’m sorry for the person who died and for all those injured –on either side- there is no excuse for this and there should be no quiet acceptance of this either
