First, again, let me say that I don't think this child should be taken away. That would be much worse than bringing the kid to parties, IMHO.

So, you think society should have no say in raising people's children? Let me use yor reasoning to demonstartae why this thinking is flawed. I realize that this example is very extreme, and I am in no way comparing this girl's parents with this hypothetical parent I will speak of.
Let us say that there is a particular parent who believes that society does not prepare children enough for the sexual world they will enter in their teen years. As part of his plan to raise his daughter with expert sexual understanding, the father decides that he needs to teach his daughter about physical sexual acts. He decides the best way to do this is to practice these acts with his 6 yr old daughter. The 6 yr old daughter tongue kisses her father, gives her father blow jobs, and engages in intercourse with her father. Although the girl found it painful at first, she now enjoys this very much, and it is totally consensual.
According to you, even if you disagreed with this man's parenting choice, you would respect his right to parent in this manner.
According to your reasoning, it should also be okay for parents to beat their children, psycho/verbally abuse them, not feed them, etc, etc. It's okay, because it's the parents' choice, right?
Of course, I realize that the parents haven't done anything that bad. I just wanted to extend your reasoning to sshow that it doe snot hold up.

I was talking about a father bringing his sleeping kid to a dancefloor, not a mentally disturbed pervert. The issue is not about whether society should or should not have a say in parenting, but when society should stop nosing in ppls lives. For eg in this case I think society is going to far linking this with the police and demonizing this person. No parent is born knowing how to be a parent. It is a learning experience and ppl should be allowed to make small mistakes.
Please do not compare apples and oranges. And... yes I am an asshole  |

Like I said, it is just an exaggrated example. I am using the same reasoning you used. This perverted father thinks he is doing something good. Who are we to nose into his life?
