Does anyone know what mp3 release groups like gem, mycel, psycz, etc.... get out releasing music on the net? i really wonder, this is not some dude sitting at home bored with links to music sources who rips and sends to his friends. These groups are major organizations of people who i assume do this for some purpose.... it seems like its a full time job... I mean, i usually think about why something is being done, and at the rudementary level money is involved. since they arent charging anyone for it, and distributing all their releases for free anyway what do they achieve from it. i'm sure somewhere plays the part of "internet ego" but that alone cant be enough, it doesnt make $ sense... anyone have an idea?

Only glory is involved (who releases first,etc.).
Those people think that people that are downloading their releases won't buy the CDs anyway (and they may be right...) |

they're data-junkies ... like anyone who's been into pc's for long enough that figured out how to obtain files of their interest....(in my case that would be the google picturesearch)
what better place is there than to be at the source? so instead of simply downloading what is released i guess they go up to the source as far as they can without making music themselves, this being spreading the latestst releases at the top level of the "mp3-maffia"
money is the least of their concerns, costs are pretty none-existent because they mainly rely on servers that they obtained acces to using dark methods.

just sick people who even don't listen to music much, they run after new releases like a zombies, trying to get promos and unreleased stuff...

These are people with many connections and fast lines that spend mostly their time on downloading or uploading stuff rather than listening to them.I mean if you download lets say 10 cds per day how can you listen to them all?
Some of the gem people belong to labels according to some rumours.

some ppl do drugs... some ppl chasing after storms... some ppl spending time building this forum... some ppl are 24 owers with their gf/bf... some ppl doing extrem things....
and some ppl have a weird passion to get unreleased music...
guss we are all kinda crazy hu?

the mp3 realese groups (gEm, mycel, etc...) are just like all the other hackers groups...
just like FLT or DEVIANCE from the gaming scene.
just like FOSI or PARADOX from the software scene.
they are all hackers.
pirates.
and they do it for reputation and glory.
nothing more.

take this into consideration: maybe those active members really buy the music they like, after listening first. from their point of view there's not much glory to it, just the fact that they know that they only buy the d's they really like...

Promotional is for promo copies of the stuff
Top 10 is for "the lastest unreleased killers"
Trance Art is for all the movies
Equipment and Music Creation is for all stuff abt Reason/Cubase Etc..
Unidentified is to figure out the "N.N_-_N.N.(Killer not to be traded)" stuff
