how is that not compromise ???

"which doesn't necessarily has the best mastering and the best artists"

here is your compromise...

I was meaning "best", not best if you get what I mean. The biggest and most famous names.

Interesting discussion, Living in the US I never really thought about what a pain in the ass it is for small business owners in other countries.
It might be worth looking into partnering with someone in the US, its probly hard to beat us when it comes to capitalistic greed.
If you have a home office here in alot of cases you can deduct that from your taxes, not pay more. The only reason to register here is for liability. If you don't register you would simply claim the profit as income when you file your taxes. If you lost money, in alot cases you could probly deduct that also from the tax you owe. You bought a new computer to help run your business? DEDUCT IT! hah

There are different laws when it comes establishing a small business, wayyyyyyyy different actually. And like the poster above said, there is no place in the world to start your own business than the good old US of A. And Detox, I studied international business as well, Greece is well known around europe to be an absolute nightmare to do business with and to do business in, because of idiotic bureaucracy and stupid laws. So I'm sorry for your "laws of the land", just assume that every other country in the world is probably more conductive to starting a business than greece And who sends money with money orders in this day and age...wtf???

About Suntrip, I suspect you are doing so well because you are so unique. As far as I know, you focus on the old Goa sound done with new technology, and to my knowlledge not many other labels are doing that. To use the business lingo, you have a very focused brand and a very loyal fanbase that can only get this particular kind of sound from you. You are the typical example of a niche player. Your costs are lower because your artists are very niche as well and dont ask money like X-Dream. Maybe only 5% of people in the larger psyscene are into your kinda sound, but you are alone serving those 5%. That also makes it very easy to predict your sales. Say 80% of people are into full-on, but there are god-knows how many labels doing full-on, lets say 80 (i know its more), youll see that each theoretically has much less of the psytrance pie. I know this calculation is very simplistic, but kinda shows why Suntrip does well and the average shit-full-on label doesnt.

Man, im stoned, I hope that made any sense at all

I have material by Artists on Vinyl who now have changed to CD/digital dl Which i despise mixing with CD's .. i prefer my Vinyl and there has been occasions that labels and Arists won't listen to customers , Which makes wonder why they are in the game if they can't help those that buy there Material ..

And since all the Digital Malarky it has caused the closure of many Distributors inturn material harder to get hold off .. Instead we are given what online shops have to Offer ..

And fail to see how any Artists can make a decent Living from selling there Material online if they don't do live shos etc ...

in my opinion, labels has some profits for the disks, since ur label begins to rock, ur sales goes to the roof. besides, if u have an eshop, helps on something. with bookings u get extra earnings 4 the same publicity (u can get party promoters, and at the same time make some publicity 4 ur label & disks); an artist must have to live & sell disks & selling online info. Besides supporting new artists u support trance scene, which brings u a profit in long term. and by the way, trance´s not dead, needs to grow.
support trance scene

Actually by having it all online the more rare stuff would be easier to get hold of. IMO.
