is trance music spiritual?

I had an argument with a good friend of mine. I told him that trance music is very spiritual and if you "understand" it - you get a bigger consciousness and you experience something very deep and spiritual.
My friend told me that this is only bullshit and it is only because of the drugs. I told him that you can feel it even without drugs, without parties, just when you listen to trance music at home, and even beyond that…
I would like to know what people think about this? I am very curious…

i think every good music can be spirtual, not only trance.. its depend on your mood and open mind..

It depends on the listener.. not on the music
but i doubt about the fact that lets say RAP or POP music could be spiritual
there're some genres which may cause spiritual feelings and trance is one of them

And BrainStorm : HipHop CAN be spiritual.... PLEASE all forumers stop harshing on HH on this forum.
Give a listen to the RoOts, JIGMastas, or Mos Def..
Some Guys are still wOrking in the true original essence of HipHop which is not always negative, gangsta or worse RnBcommercial - oriented.
I have NO doubt that some trance artists are influenced by hiphop, especially when they make BreakBeats breaks in their tracks, or produce whole ones without 4:4 beat.
And in any way being "spiritual" is not a mark of quality IMO. Zombi said it well : depends on your mOod.

...it s a help to get easier in trance-states...shamans,... needs many years...for shure it isn t comparable 1:1, but it s somekind similar...

i find this debateable. there is no definite yes or no here, since music is formless.
to me, not all types of music is spiritual. many of the albums i own contain music which is cold at heart yet fun to listen to - lasgo, timo mas and various rock and pop artists. the reason they are cold at heart (IMO), is because a lot of these albums are formula-based musical ventures, with little to no feel.
on the other hand, there are several musical ventures in my collection which can be described as spiritual. that does not mean that they are trance, by the way. i find the sixties psychedelic rock to be just as potent and psychedelic as contemporary trance music. even more so.
I think the question here should be - Is Music spiritual? how does one weigh spirituality? is music spiritual because of the person/s who created it? what is spiritual music for the layman? how do we elucidate others to those terms?

i feel that art is spiritual. music is art. not everybody enjoys the same art. trance might be spiritual for me and you, but not for your mom and dad
but i too have my doubts with MTV J-LOW pop still jenny from the block blah blah blah |

Im not sure if it´s spiritual the term i would use to define the feelings for music, what i can say is that music may make you go into some sort of trance.
heck even britney spears can make a kid desire, dance, and scream.
hit me baby one more time! |

I couldn´t agree more! That´s exactly what I thing....
In my opinion, Trance is different. You can feel it in your soul... All the time, when I´m in a Trance party, I´m certainly about this feeling.

so I guess not to many of you good people (expect for PsyButterfly – my man!!) feel the way I do…
Personally, I think Trance music is really different from other genres of music – it can really bring you into Trance! (and I mean also without drugs) – It has an energy and focus (sort of concentration) that can shift your consciousness in a way which really takes you somewhere else – someplace unique and secret and amazing (I guess this is where the word spiritual comes to my mind).
What I find interesting is that this "tracne" feeling somehow stays with me sometimes, accompanies me – like an aura… like when going outside for a walk after listeing to trance... its like MAGIC!
well, maybe its just me…
