The trance scene in goa for me has changed, dramatically, in fact i wouldnt recomend it to anyone who wants to experience the psy vibe... and this if from me, who once held this truly mystical paradise as the home of psytrance... I would recommend some sort of festival in europe to feel the power of psytrance, to make u feel the way goa used to.

I know people say that its all abt when u go there, (dec end being shitty), but every other year when i have been to goa, its been around this time and i have always come back with a smile on my face, no not chemically induced, but out of pure exhillaration at the purity that i felt to be goa.

to quote viral virus,

"i totally agree with XP when he says we dont like mumbai crowd here , i mean there are just a few guys from bombay who actually come to enjoy , while others come to harrass any female they see at the party, its really annoying."

I would have agreed with u mate, but the ony thing is it isnt mumbai people messing up the scene, its the whisky loving, club cabana going, general tourists. indian, sri lankan, arab, black white whoever, i think its wrong to generalise, because its a whole bunch of people that have messed up the scene."

To quote Janux
"one other thing needs to be understoond... its sad but true, but the Goan government does not like the trance scene in Goa. For us, Goa is about trance. But for the government, Goa is about making money. And they make a lot more money from other kinds of tourism - charter tourism, look at Baga, look at the 5 star hotels comming everywhere) The goan people dont care that its the originaly trance people that made Goa become an attraction for people all over the world, they now want to force the transition from hippy & trance tourism to commercial tourism, and that is also why they have been making problems for the parties over the last few years...
So its the local govt (and Indian govt) that is repsonsible for encouraging other kinds of tourism."

The fact that goa has changed so dramatically is also due to:
1. The fact that we now have more cheap flights than ever flying in during the busy times, and thats why so many more F*&&^%^ing people
2. The glorification of goa as clubbers paradise etc
Dude, its so not, they have club cabana and titos.
3. The fact that the indian trance scene has so many males as opposed to females.
4. The fact that indian ravers, are basically large groups of boys who want to experience the goa vibe that we all did at some point, with their friends as we all do.
5. The fact that trance parties are more and more becoming places where dirty old men come to check out the cute hippie chicks!!

i really hope to be proved wrong, and i hope that SOMEHOW this magical place gets its energy back, not through numbers, but through the vibe shared by the people who are there, be it a month a week or a lifetime. Are you listening chief minister?
Sometimes revenue can destroy a culture, and we have seen it happen.

yes, goa is more than a place its a state of mind, but its also a mystical place, where we have many many memories, and it is being destroyed.

very well said Raoul ...
i have just got into teh scene now since a year....i have been goign to goa since 5 years though ... but this time i actually felt what the goa vibe was .. yes it is true that commercial tourism is increasing there day by day but teh vibe is still alive thats why we trancers still go there every year even though we crib before the season starts that goa is changed,etc....
this year the parties really did not happen at the common places like hill - top , disco valley , etc but on new found places . and the vibe at these parties was mystical.. i could feel the Goa vibe whihc until going to goa this time i used to read here on teh forum....
to conclude i think commercialism will increase due to the governments actions but i think its really difficult for teh goa vibe to die .. Goa will remain a mystical place for sure for atleast some years now.The vibe wil not die so easily...           Its all about the vibe....

Been going to goa since dec 2000 season.......ever since i went there fell in love with the place......nuthing can change that.......parties happen parties dont. The first time i entered disco valley and saw abt 5000 party ppl from the top of the mountain changed my whole defination.....before that just had been to parties in mumbai.......

I go to goa even in off season just for the love of the place......just for the feeling goa gives me.Sittin in chapora....small vagator.....curlies sippin on the "KINGS" smoking chillum after chillum after chillum......wading away into the sunset......goin to 9 bar just havin a good time......wer else in the world will support civilisation so beautiful as us.......Its India and its alllll the way india......no matter the older boys arent seen arnd but they r around in undisclosed locations of India.

Parties will always have tht feelin and its true after the young goans have taken the control over the parties and the goa mafia everything from the sound to everything else is changin......Paradiso i remember used to be a spot wer everyone used to rock......

Remember the millenium 10 day party was to be hosted by our very own BOmbay boys......well things changed after that becuz of sum sleazy journalist who wanted to gain popularity.....but why?

Goa is goa and nobody will be able to change tht........one things for sure with soooooo much new music comin in......so many new artist comin in alll wanna experience the goa expedition and they willll very sooon change the whole plan

Parties will be wat they used to be earlier and they need to be underground and not let the ppl who are not to be told let know abt it........

The goans make money for only 4 months of the year which is season time......

the tourist would probably just come in for one month and many just in for the new year and go back and once the goans realise that we r the only ones who will who will support their livelyhood will they understand to give back wat we have lost.

The locals have become very money minded which they werent earlier when they used to live a simple life.

All said and done I shall be goin back to goa every year......coz thts the only place in the world tht brings tht smile to my face which nuthing else can.......

Raoul, could't agree with you more man!

Frashay, u bastard, when's the festivaaaal in Sydney?? I remember the Disco Valley plan dude, when we walked down and suddenly saw 5000 freaks in the valley, I thought I was straight back in the '60s. I think that was one of my fondest memories of Goa....Walking into Disco Valley and just being completely geshtunkenfucked!

But as Rajaram said, "Find new pastures, the World is out there!"
Goa is goa, but we can't change the government and the locals and drunk tourists.. We have our memories and hopefully one day, the structures around Goa will change allowing it to become the Goa it was born to be!
