great thread Mike A.
i love full on mostly because you can enjoy it the whole party without going mad(in a bad way).
it doesnt mean that a dont hear psy .for me a great party is full on with 2 hours of psy ,so that you can taste both in the party and enjouy both styles. and today most parties are those -full on with couple of hours psy.

keep on raving.

I mean bland by sound production. Not the music itself.

Good to hear Mike, I totally agree with that. The sound production is so much better today. Much of the stuff from that time wasn't exactly HiFi.

IMO the main problem of full-on these days is..too much.

too much artist thus too much albums.

its only natural that most young artist would like 2 create full-on, cause probably this is the kind of trance they've heard 4 the first time at their first psy experience.

creating music is an amazing art, i find it similar 2 painting.
sometimes i dont hear any art in full on, as if the artist didnt focus enough on the art, as on the fast way 2 complete this "album".

the results r known 2 all of us.

The problem as I see it is that maybe 5% of the Full On artists are good enough to be called artists. The rest are just kids sitting in their bedrooms with a tracker program spitting out "music" that sound like everything else released these days. It's just too easy to get access to a PC with a tracker program and to make music an certainly to release it. Maybe a little quality control over quantity blindness at the labels and distributors would restore this scene to it's potential. As it is today it's quite frankly a laughinstock with 7 out of 10 people in this scene being a wannabe Dj or "artist".

The thing making it a problem if some kids think it's fun to make music with their tracker software, is that you get elitistic people winching about it being a problem.

Let the kids play, why does it bother you...?
Because they become more sucessful than you??

I heard a lot exciting music made by "kids", it's completly irrelevant to me if they use a tracker and is full of spots.

"It's just too easy to get access to a PC with a tracker program and to make music"
Why was it better when it was hard and expensive to make music?

Maybe the labels have a problem with qualtiy control, but to blame the kids?           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

Where did I ever blame the kids?

Heck if I was a kid and had the chance to be a "star" at my local party surcuit I would properly also go for it. But that does not make the "music" one bit better. On contrary it make it predictable and in 9 out of 10 tracks just another copycat.

I did infact blame the labels. Please dont put words in my mouth.

you seem to take things very personal. It's a forum mate with people that have different perspectives to things. And the cool thing is that we can debate those perspectives. Hopefully in a rational way?

I never said your to blame so please dont take thinsg so personal.

Well you basically said that 95% of the artists is kids sitting with a PC and tracker program, and that is the primary reason that full-on is not what it should be.

"but to blame the kids?" was maybe a slight dramatisation to finish of my post.

Belive me, although we have had our clashes it's not because you are HandA i felt like commenting.
I have reacted before against similar statements, because I don't like the vibe it gives to kids working hard on making some nice music.

I'd like kids with trackers to feel welcome and that they get support from established people in the scene.
Not being looked down on as some amateurs because they didn't grow up with expensive hardware.
I belive in the old shamanic motto "fake it til you make it".
If the kids think they can make great music at home with their PC, they are more likely to do it, and we will have better trance in the future than if we look down on them.

And I think a lot of the time they make more exciting stuff than the established artists, so I fail to see the validity in saying they lower the quality of music in the scene.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

i think a big difference between full on and older goa is that old goa is better for just listening at home while full on really needs to be pumped up volume wise.
One thing i still love about old goa is that although there was alot of crap the good artists all had their own sound. Everyone was useing different synths, there is only so many sounds you can get out of a nord lead.

in my opinion, the main difference between (most) goa and (most) fullon of today is just the idea behind everything...the reason why those projects do the stuff they do...

goa was about to espress ur feelings in musical form, to create trips in sound...
the people just did what they missed in music before, and the things they liked...

the idea behind (most of) todays fullon is just burning the dancefloor, doing music for the masses to get famous...and sad but true, even a lot of great old names lost their spirit and are just doing now what everyone wants to hear...

this just my opinion mates...plzz don't kill me for that!           https://soundcloud.com/hazak

not that anyone takes this in the wrong way, I love fullon...
but most of it is (imo) just about trying to do it like someone else in a totally uninspired way...           https://soundcloud.com/hazak

excellent thread Mike A
___________________________________________

i love electronic music on all it's variety.
and in every nuance i found some tracks i really liked
and yes my all time favored style is and always will be full-on
full-on is (to me) thrilling music, the beat is hard and pounding,
there are melodies that makes u feel flying, increasing ur heart beats...
i love the -merry go round- feeling i get or a story playing in my ears
there's a lot of feeling in full-on... some tracks are like amazing rock ballads
some are pop hits... but that's the beauty... variety
it's good that there are diffrences in music and should be or wouldn't been created by humans
(ppl are different from one another - that's what fun )
and ppl the magic from goa is goa's there's other kind of magic in different places - variety
i have to say that the way i see/hear ppl talking about this (no matter in what forum or in what context) always looks like
and that's a b--i--g disappointment
what can i say... if in the past trance ppl were to be considered loving and free
and embracing all kind and open minded and i can go on and on...
nowdays it seems ppl are just waiting for a chance to say something bad
or just have a fight (net or real life)
it has sadly came to the state that if artists don't get bad review's they hardly get any
i guess it's easier to "talk dirty"
some ppl here have tried to find the problem
there is NO problem just live and let live
each of us will go to the parties where the music and the ppl are in his taste
cause naturally being in a place where the crowd ain't ur thing
and the music is bad in ur ears will make u feel lousy!!!
each will listen to the music they like

i want to say respect and good luck to all new and old artists
music is an answer to so many ppl that there should be many kind of artists to feel the task
may all of us ppl have peace and good health and only good will come on everyone here

boom
Life is too short for lousy music!
