you say that like its a bad thing.

i personally feel that this place should stay as monitored as it is right now, because it seems to be working, however, i think this place really needs an off-topic section too. this can even be moderated, but not as much, let people talk about psychedelic culture, and psychedelic lifestyles and not just the latest top 10 chemical crew full on dancefloor nuclear warfare, supra, ultra killaaaar tunes.

you should rather spend your moderating abilities removing posts with the word "killaarrr" in it, instead of topics with interesting information about the world around us.

there is a psynews forum for you to discuss offtopics and world around us as well as say how bad and childish isratrance is. but you won't meet it here. we respect psynews. We shouldn't do anything with our moderation abilities, we are just improving.
and yes i said it like if it was bad thing. may be it doesn't harm psynews but it would harm isratrance for sure.

If it's so bad here, then why do you visit this site and post?

i dont know if this is completely related to this topic but i think i understand why people may be affected by this "rigidness" that isratrance moderators have.

let me explain my point with a personal example:

first of all, i have websites and forums since a long time more or less since 98. so i have the experience to tell you that in all forums and all kinds of "movements" there are people who are bored at work or in their homes and post stupid shit. and if your forum is big, you have A LOT of people posting this kind of topics. so i understand why isratrance has to be strict, its almost like a china, way too much people, so basically you need a strong presence of moderation in order to keep some kind of control.

BUT one thing is moderating in order to avoid stupid posts and the other is continuosly locking and deleting posts in order to force people to behave in a specific way or discuss issues in a specific way. a good example of this is profane's "fear" that "certain topics" will "overrun more importante ones". i understand his intention, but well "important" topics should be defined by the users who are interested in it, not be defined by some strange concept of whats is important to discuss or no. i think there should be more feedback between the "moderator" elite and the users, specially on what should be considered important do discuss.

one thing happened to me, which is not completely related to this topic, where i crashed my head against the solid-concreted shield of isratrance moderators

ive been fighting since my first visit to this forum for a latin america section. there are lot of people coming in to this forum from all places, so i thought it would be great to use that to support a place where trance has recently started to developing.

i sent messages, i talked with moderators, offered to moderate this forum and the answer was no all the time. they explained me that i needed to have more users from latin america in order to have a forum, otherwise people would be "bored" to see a forum which is not so active as the others one. this is exactly my point!! my idea was to ask Isratrance for help, by allowing us to show the rest of the world our effort to develop psychedelic in this part of the world.

slowly more people would know that there is trance in latin america and eventually even people from latin america would find out about this forum and start getting more interested. even better people from argentina would contact people from bolivia and set up parties or just talk about topics they share such as trying to create a scene in countries with a low economic position.

in fact for example, we recently releasead an album and a lot of argentinian guys started visiting the forum more often, just because they found something they could relate to. im not trying to promote my album here, im just saying that when argentinian people visited the forum and saw something related with argentina, they got interested in participating.

so as you can see here, a very constructive idea i had, that includes a lot of countries which are fighting to get their scene stable, was completely ignored just because they "feared" that the latin america forum would not be active. this forum clearly is not open for new ideas and new ways.

its a pity, because basically isratrance is the only global forum, where people from everywhere participate and it sucks to be left apart just because we are still too small.

so there you go my 45.2 cents, i hope this topic finally finds a hole in the solid istratrance shield

good luck

well filter, I assume this truly could be opened in isratrance.com forum categorie but let me answer here as well. I don't know what is "fear" but we really have some rulez (not written though) regarding opening countries section and we are currently rebuilding them (as well as top10)
but there is a point as well from our side. once we open forum for a country with 20 users, we need open forums for all the rest. Offer to be a moderator ain't always accepted like an application to get a work and we are making lot of checks before we do any step. I hope you seen what happened to Portugal forum
Anyhow thanks for the input, this is exactly what we have on the roadmap right now.

Rebuilding the rules for top 10. That's an idea. I don't understand why people (especially moderators) get so hostile about top 10 posts. If someone doesn't want to participate, they don't have to. But sometimes it's cool to see what other people are in to.

and if you didn't pay attention yet, top10 now is in read-only mode. nobody can post until we resolve it.
