hmmm . . This is all very moving & touching, but I really think u guys should take nomolos's offer and PLEASE do get a room!  hehe
I think that the Isratrance team and moderators are doing a terrific job. It's not easy taking control over this boring madness that's been happening here during the past year.

Seems like I am in the minority, but my 2 cents are; this site is way overmoderated. In my opinion there are some cases where it is no more than just the moderators ego at work. It is amazing how some people behave given even the most insignificant amount of power. |

well moderating is understandable, and we all know that the makers and maintainers of this forum put time and money into it, so they might as well tell whats acceptable or not... thats agreed..
but, I think at times, since we are all humans, and humans make mistakes, I see times were topic locking did not need to be done...
take for example the topic locking for already-made threads.. well yeah of course, if everybody posts the same thread over and over every couple of weeks, its not a good thing.. But I´ve seen times where the last time a topic was posted was a few months before, and then the moderator comes and locks the topic.. Well, things change, people change, opinions change, new people come in the forum.. So I think sometimes its nice to have a new topic about something that has been discussed before, you know?
(also consider the search function is not working.. at least not as it was)
and another example.. take for example this topic a guy recently made: Whats in your playlist right now?
I thought that was a very constructive topic.. I mean, if I see someone that has my tastes, I can find new artists that I didnt know before .. Im sorry, I dont like the top 10 section, its too much ´killaaaaaaa´ answers and tops which are not constructive at all, very ego-driven posts, imo... So I think maybe asking ´whats in your playlist right now´ may have a totally different approach than the mutual ego-masturbation of ´killaaaaaa you rock´ posts.. Not to mention the fact that some people that are in the trance section dont go to the top 10 section, so there might be some different points of view..
now as you may or not know, it was locked, and the moderator said something like ´dont post another top 10 just because you are not allowed to post on that section´... that was very offensive imo, and not necessary...
Its like sometimes, people get power, and just because they have it, they seem to think they HAVE to use it...
Im not here to bash anybody.. just say where I dont agree, since this topic is about moderating here...
what do you guys think (about the specific case I mention and my opinions in general) ? |

Well Madpup you right, some of them do but without strick moderation we will speak freely on isratrance forum which deals with psytrance and it's psylosophy only nor geographical or ecomonical conflicts.
and Overdose, i heard that psychiatrist got payed for listening such kind of stuff so do faovr to all of us get lost and do favor to medics found them.

I was the moderator who locked the topic, and if my decision seemed offensive, it was surely not the intention.
That being said, I felt that the topic was anything but constructive. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that a lot of users want to tell the world what they like at the moment, but most of those topics turn pretty pointless. If that specific should have lived, we should also accept those “best goa psychedelic track for making coffee” and “best track from 1987” etc. threads, and in a forum this big, my fear would be that these threads would totally kill the more serious discussions. I don't think your individual opinion of that topic being pointless is sufficient reason for locking the thread. I am sure there are plenty of users who saw the point in a topic like that.
I can not believe you tried to justify it by your fear that topics like that will overrun more serious topics. Do you have anything to back that up other than your unqualified (IMO) opinion.
A prime example of ridiculous over moderation. See my earlier post about egos. |

well things as usual take a different direction in this thread as it does in most of the threads that pass 2-3 pages...
well since the hot topic now seems to be the locking of the "Whats in your playlist right now?"...heres my two cents...
well at first when i saw the topic i was pretty sure it will be locked sooner or later..but suprisingly it lasted for over a day....and it got locked...
my memory pretty much sucks but there was a post of this nature sometime back which said ..which track is playing rite now..? or somethin of such sort...4-5 months ago and it got locked with a very decent explainiation...and what profane said is kinda true..that once such kind of posts start..beleive me there is no end to such kind of things..
to be honest am sure everyone here will agree with me on this one that if such a post goes without being locked we will have posts such as..:
which track do u like to listen to while u take bath??
or while having sex..
or in the car...
or while cooking..
or while working on the comp..
while playing on the comp...
am not sayin the majority of us will do it..HELL NO!! but honestly thinking dont u think such type of topics will creep up....
think about it...
and imo thats exactly what profane wanted to eradicate..so the topic got locked...
