Its crazy how these psycore fans bitch about Ocelot's sound! His tracks are out of this fucking world psychedelic!!! Someone comparing it with House Rave Music with kids on MDMA really doesnt know what hes talking about! So Melodic and Effortless the tunes coming outta peacocks labrynth. Im shocked! His contribution to the scene is worthy of smiles and compliments and appreciation and nothing short of a life changing experience.

I LOVE Sonik Scissor, Select Project and Crazy Astronaut's Projects... but to dis the very road that we ourselves took back when ocelots sound was at peak is lying to ourselves and no-one else.

Theres so much individuality now formed on the forum it beats the very purpose of coming together and discussing sound.

And for a mere 100bpm weapon of choice.

Discuss sound y'all! This forum is for happy trancers... who cares what your personal preference is...           No great genius has ever existed without some touch of madness...

I have nothing against ocelots music. It's his cuntish attitude that ruins it for me. He can fuck himself and his music.           Cuntus Maximus.

I came into the scene in 2005. Much later than many of the people on here. I wasn't around for the "90s spirit of Goa lower BPMs" that everyone else was. I don't think that means I am any less of a trancer or know the music any less than other people. When I was coming into the scene dark was getting popular and faster stuff was really starting to take off with Noise Poison. Music styles evolve and if they didn't people would get bored.

Either way, there I will always love a good 140 track as much as a 180 track. I think there is a time and a place for 180 - 200 (a few tracks at the peak of the night), but after that it no longer has a distinct bassline, which is important to me in a good track. I will agree that it does give energy and a craziness to the middle of the night to have this sort of higher BPM. I've always been a big fan of dark music and I've liked the higher bpms, but no matter the BPM, a good track is a good track and the bpm doesn't affect me.

I don't think that the BPMs will go higher than ~200 and 1 or 2 may hit 220 (I do think Night Flirt by Osom is a great track), but people can't sustain all night and expect to be dancing at 220 until the morning. I think a good progression during the night is great but I get a bit disappointed if there's not even one or two faster/hi-tech tracks.

Generalizing and saying that everything above x bpms is shit is just ignorant. It's the equivalent of someone that doesn't listen to any EDM writing psy or dnb or whatever off "Oh it's too fast..." "Oh it's too repetitive.." It means you didn't listen to it really. We're all entitled to our preferences.

In some ways the dark scene has split off from the full on / prog scene as there are separate festivals for each. But I still think that they will always stay as one. I love a good dark festival, but sometimes it's nice to hang around and chat in the morning and dance around in a more relaxed setting, instead of the AM 180 dance seizure (not that I don't love it sometime heheh).

But I think the moral of this pissing contest should be.. if you don't like it don't listen to it. Everyone has musical preferences... my friends listen to ska or rock, I will listen to it with them and enjoy it to an extent but I'm not going to go home and put it on. Don't go to the dancefloor if you can't stand high bpms and that's what they're playing. I don't go to all fullon/prog parties because I know I will still be bored at a certain point if they don't play any dark. Don't go to Ambient Festival 2013 if you don't like 50 bpms.

But to answer the topic, no it won't keep getting faster and faster. Also, yes the younger generation seems to like it. But the producers of the high bpm are not children they're at least in their twenties/thirties/fourties and may not be in the same generation that's consuming it.

Back to eating my popcorn...

Spirit of Goa = lower bpms? A total myth. A fair proportion of oldschool Goa tracks were faster than modern fullon. What there was back then though, was more variety in BPM, and in general atmosphere/construction of the tracks. The cookie-cutter is working overtime these days.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

I know there's a ton of Goa with higher bpms. I was just quoting something that someone said earlier in this thread.
