so... if the kiddies today like 180bpm plus (hardcore trance or whatever it's called)
do you think the next next generation will still be trying to compete at this pissing contest?
i'm pretty sure it just becomes a constant note above 350bpm or so... i couldn't get a distinct kick any faster than 300 something as it started to sound like a delay/mushy sound....

Well they won't be the first to do it, Speedcore has reached something like 1000bpm.

imho - there is enough war in this world - it does not need to be mirrored in sound or parties - but who knows to what the kiddos will listen in 20years...their choice.
but for me - it's just missing anything and the most important - life
anyway not my cup of tea - something from 50 - 135bpm is good for me...

Thinking of music regarding only tempo is like thinking about a painting regarding only colour. You need to look at the whole picture.
Open your mind and get down off your high horse ocelot my man.           .............................................

I agree with Satori. Most high bpm music doesn't do it for me, but when it does, that high bpm is almost unnoticeable in the grand scheme It's just another facet that can makes up a great track. Or not.

I wasn't going to post, but Ocelot seems to insist on whacking a dead donkey.

The BPM/rhythm is just a canvas on which to paint. Sure there's plenty of bad paintings but there are some great ones as well.

Just as there's a ton of genetic full on, prog & tech trance as well as some amazing works in those sun genres.

There is actually a fair few 150+ BPM tracks in this scene from the 90's including Mahadeva by Astral.

If you don't enjoy the style the just go listen to what you do like.

This thread is doing nothing positive at all.

Not to bag on Aaron, but seems he's frustrated that he can't produce music that everyone falls in love with while seeing everyone love everything else. And he's trying the best he can, with every genre. Kinda sad, since he's a musician from a family of musicians and this is his life. Maybe if he stops trying so hard and lay off the disgruntled, jaded critique thing.

No offense and I only wish the best.

I completely agree, I can understand artistic frustration but maybe he needs to look elsewhere

God only knows that EDM in general needs a few game changers, nothing truly original has come out in years.

There's lots of quality but nothing original.

I've never heard a bad Ocelot track, I'd really like to see him seriously give something a go out of his comfort zone.

If you're not happy mate with whats popular, step out and show us what you're really capable of. Blow our minds!!           Cuntus Maximus.

Aaron is completely right, this new age hi-tech or whateva makes sense only at certain time of the party/festival hence they are slotted to play in the middle of the night with the exception being Noize Poison Festival which is a gathering for like-minded BPM freaks who don't mind those banging tunes 24/7.

I seriously don't get how the kids these days call 200BPM music as killa n stuff !?

Whatever happened to the good old Psytrance we grew up listening to? The last 15 years or so we all have seen some remarkable evolution in music style, tempo, etc. but but but are we heading in the right direction??
The 604 Hippies from the 90's who started their Trance_Dance_-_Experience listening to acts like
Darshan,Miranda,Shakta,Jorg & Labels like Flying Rhino & DragonFly also find any Dark Psy of the new age (200x onwards) kinda Unacceptable in their opinion, musically speaking.
Music is about Evolution but maybe something went Wrong,,,,

personally, i would not dance or keep standing around when the music is going over 150 for more than an hour.

shanti~
